I bought Socom and immediately lost the instruction manual. Can someon tell me how to find matches online that are solo and not team. I can't figure out how to tell which is which and every time I join a game it is team. Are there indeed solo deathmatches?

There is a single player campaign, you just can't play those missions online with the help of other people.

If you're talking about playing someone online one-on-one, then you can just create a game with a Maximum number of 2 players set.

i'm talking about one player versus everyone, and not just one other person. sounds like there's no option to have a 3-12 player free for all, where it's everyone vs. everyone.

No, that option is not available in SOCOM online. If GR has that option, then I guess that would be your game.

GR has both, and also a nice king of the hill mode.
