Adios, Jenny Jones!

As someone with firsthand knowledge from my days with the Springer show, which is on the same floor of the same buiding as Jenny, good riddance!!! Not only is her show trash pretending to be something it's not, but on a personal note, Jenny herself is a bitch.

Days are numbered for 'Jenny Jones Show'

The good news is that Chicago soon won't have "The Jenny Jones Show" to kick around anymore. The bad news is that it took 12 years to finally go away.

Warner Bros. Domestic Television is expected to announce any day now that it will cease production of the Chicago-based syndicated talk show, leaving Oprah Winfrey and Jerry Springer as sole survivors of the once-thriving gabfest genre here.

Insiders at NBC Tower, where both Jones and Springer produce their shows, said word of Jones' demise began circulating last week.

Jones' show has been something of a civic embarrassment since its debut in 1991. Even its home station, WMAQ-Channel 5, dropped the program after two seasons, although it continued to originate from the NBC-owned station's studios and production facilities.

The low point for "Jenny Jones"--and perhaps all of talk television--came in 1995 when one guest wound up murdering another who had confessed a same-sex "secret crush" as part of an ambush stunt on the show.

After declining ratings and the loss of outlets in New York and Los Angeles threatened to kill the show last year, Tribune Co. rescued it as part of a major agreement with Warner Bros.

The deal gave "Jenny Jones" one more year on WGN-Channel 9 and other Tribune Co. outlets.

Not that I watch these shows anyway, but is Montel off the air now? Ricky Lake? It mentions only Oprah and Springer are left...

And one last topic, "My big busted teen dresses too sexy"
Gotta have a topic for each day of the week and then you can recycle them.

Jenny Jones is really the BOOB tube.

I watched it occasionally although every show seemed like the previous one.

Don't forget the all important "I need to know which one of these 3 guys is my baby's daddy". This is going to be sad news for the paternity testing companies.

Of course, they will just fill the slot with "Russian Roulette Date" or some other date based drivel. Daytime tv bites.

She's been gone from my local since last year.

We now have "Good Day Live" with those two chicks and that guy who get on my damn nerves.

I would rather have another hour of Texas Justice...

Oh well.

Yep. All the talk shows have been killed by the proliferation of at least 15 bearly discernable dating shows. All of them copying Blind Date

Yahoo!! Long overdue. Is Povich still around? He's complete trash too.

I can't believe Springer is still on the air. He should be ashamed of himself. I saw him on "Crossfire" the other night (debating that fascist creature Ann Coulter), and he surprised me once again at how thoughtful and cogent he is. That said, after years of shamelessly cashing in by trolling trailer parks for guests, he has zero credibility. He should take his money and whatever soupcon of dignity he has left and anonymously crawl into the nearest gated community.

This show should have been gone years ago. The day that one of her guests was shot and killed by another guest and the show was put on trial for it, it should have been taken off the air. Now we need to get rid of Ricki Lake and Montell.

I don't think the murder has anything to do with the show going off the air. So it should not even be discussed.

I wasn't saying that the show is going off the air because of the murder. The show is going of the air because it stinks and it no money can be made from it. I was saying that the show should have been taken off the air after the murder occured.

I never said you said it was going off because of the murder.

But that is what you really feel since you posted those final words, anyway.

Povich is still on. Flipping channels, I caught an episode a couple of days ago about grossly overweight babies.

Springer is not an idiot but cash is more important than any sense of morality. What a waste of brains.

He's probably more unendurable even than Springer, because, as despicable as his motives for continuing are, at least Springer acknowledges the atrociousness of his show. Povich puts on a facade of concern and earnestness, all the while exploiting stupid pregnant teens and their "baby daddy" travails.

Exactly, although I don't think he's tremendously bright, he does seem smarter and more temperate than the average politician.

So let me get this straight, Jerry "I'm a Socialist" Springer is more cogent than Ann "Liberals can't handle the truth" Coulter?

And really, to call Ann a fascist says not of her character, but of yours. I just love how liberals go crying about conservatives when they just wish to enforce the law of the land!
