I got an US X-box and wanted to get X-box live but the Microsoft team here gives me a hundred excuses and refuses to even let me try out the X-box live from Japan. Can I just buy the kit from US and then register it at US and use the unit from Japan?

I have never met anyone on live outside of the US or Canada.

EDIT - I have played on Ghost Recon servers where everybody else was british. Forgot.

Sorry to be off topic, but why did you exclude Hawaii from the USA in your thread title?

Im pretty sure x-box live would work outside the U.S. People in Europe have been using live since it came out here. Some people couldnt wait to get there hands on it :-)

Yeah, being a kamaina myself (Hawaii born and raised), I've always been a little touchy about that. Once at Kinko's in Long Beach, CA, they tried to charge me the international rate to fax a document to my Dad in Honolulu. I couldn't explain to them that it's not an International call. Some people are pretty slow to get their news.

I've play GP moto with people in europe. But it's been a while since I played europe. I know the even if they had fever 2003, they could not play it LIVE. So I think that the regional servers that can block games would block no regional players. ;)

Add one grain of salt after reading this post, becuase I have no friggin idea.

You know, Decker, I feel the same way. It's amazing how many people don't realize that Hawaii is a state... I mean, it's not even a territory...

Although maybe the poster was wondering if anyone outside the continental US could use Xbox Live, which is a perfectly valid question considering how many services, etc. aren't valid in Alaska or Hawaii.

As an aside, I watched an episode of Meet My Folks the other week, and three of the girls didn't even know how many states we have in the US...

I know X-box live can be used in Canada and the other US states, but to use it in Japan, with an US X-box is very hard.
Both side of the X-beam, in Japan and also in USA does not answer any of the emails,it's like they do not know themselves if it will work or not.
I guess the only way to find out is to buy a Live kit and register in the US and use the Japan servers, just hope they do not block me

I actually posted about this a couple months ago, being that I live in Japan myself. I'm pretty sure it works because on the official XBOX.com page, if you do a search in their forums, there are quite a bit of military personnel stationed here that are using XBOX live. Anyways, I plan to pick one up soon.

Well in that case I will pick up one also from the USA! :)
