ER Jan. 30th 2003

It was a very good episode, my thought
Spoiler:
Seems like it was a downer for all the doctors, Carter gets screwed over, Luca goes nuts, the asian gets taken for a slut, Pratt's step brother is wanted, Romano and his losing battle. It was good, but damn, are they heading for a heartbreaker season finally or something? I see that they are getting ready to dump Noah Wyle though with sending him to Africa.

Could someone give me a short recap of what happened tonight? I set my VCR to record a couple of shows and my tape ran out about five minutes after ER started.
Thanks!!

I guess they've run out of ideas for Abby so it's time to bring her family back

I'm glad Pratt finnaly did something with his brother. It was a sad scene but Pratt was on his way to a breakdown.

Good to see Elizabeth back for more then a cameo apperance.

This season seems to get more depressing every episode, it's just one downer after the other - at least Abbie's brother, Eric, seems to be doing better (though I wasn't happy to see that he was back).

Carter got screwed! I can't believe it! That completely threw me for a loop...I don't think he will be giving out foundation money so willingly next time. Does anyone think he will volunteering his services overseas anytime soom? I hope not.

I agree w/ the Leon sentiments, hopefully he won't be back. I am starting to like Pratt sometimes, but Leon just brings his storyline down terribly.

I was loving Kovac's rants against the patients! So true, so true. When he walked out of the ER after Weaver said he couldn't use his sickdays to get his life together I wanted to yell, "Way to go Luca!". Weaver is such a hypocritical bitch. I vow never to feel sympathy for her character again.

We have a Corday and Harkins sighting! Someone notify the proper authorities!

Great use of Coldplay during the closing sequence. The make perfect soundtrack music, imo. Always a joy to hear.

I have to admit I gasped when Romano was on the roof and turned toward the edge. I really thought he was going to jump. I'm glad he didn't.

Just when we get rid of Pratt's annoying brother, Abby's annoying brother shows up.

Heh, Chen got a messy facial.

Carter got taken! I never trusted Ed Asner, that hairy bastard.

Honk!

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

And to conclude this post...was it really club soda?

...I think not.

Guess I am the only one disappointed with this ep.
Series is becoming very trashy & bad soap of late.

I use to care about the characters. But they are
not a very like-able bunch lately.

At about 3/4 through last night's episode, when Abby was working at the desk, was she using one of those new Powerbooks with the 17" screen?!?

I can not believe a finacially strapped County ER could or would supply such equipt.

And I doubt on her salery, she would have bought one herself, to bring in to work.

I loved that Ed Ansner played the grifter. I can't really see Carter is Chechnia(sp).

Thank goodness Leon got sent to Baltimore, Pratt couldn't realistically care for Leon given the bad influences Leon kept hanging around with.

Good to see Harkins get a goodbye scene (it seems Gallant is in like Flynn). Glad she quietly, but verbally, gave Luka the riot act for their "goodbyes".

Luka is headed for have another "Dog Day Afternoon" episode in the future.

I didn't catch the name of the actor (Tom Everett Scott) who plays Abby's brother in the credits, so when he shows up, I was as surprised as Abby was.

Chen was as slutty as Susan tried hard not to imply.

Romano might have a breakdown due to not being able to perform surgery anymore. He's going to have to go into the educational side of medicine if he's to regain his sanity.

That kiss by Romano literally came out of the blue. I wonder how many takes it took.

Corday's cocky surgeon who's attracted to her might stoke the fires for her.

What happened to Chen?

Who did Romano kiss and why?

I missed the first half of it, since my TiVo didn't change the channel. Did I miss anything else important?

Umm.. couldn't Carter have put a stop payment on the check? It's not like a check with "that many 0's" could be cashed at a check cashing store, he would have to go to a bank.

I thought this was a great episode except for the appearance of Abby's brother. I was really hoping they were done with that for a while.

Loved the twist ending with Ed Asner's clinic! Didn't see that coming at all.

I didn't understand anything that new doc was talking about when he was getting the bullet out. I was still impressed though.

I wonder if they'll do a Carter & Abby adventure episode like they did with Green and Clooney. That would be pretty cool. Its been a while since they got the characters out of Chicago (Omaha doesn't count).

The new surgeon was using a balloon technique to get through either veins or other internal spots. If you pump up the balloon too much, you can burst the vein walls (and that's not a good thing). The new surgeon was showing Corday how much pressure was needed before you burst the wall, all the while hitting on Corday in the OR. He was also using the wire to do the fishing for the bullet fragment. He did come off pompous and self-assured.

Susan had a patient throw feces on her coat and shirt, so Chen let Susan wear her black sweater. While using the UV light to look for corneal abrasion on a boy, they noticed a nasty stain under the UV light (thought to be spooge by Abby and Susan), which grossed out Susan somewhat. Later, Susan brings it up, and Chen makes up the story of a can of soda exploding on her sweater in the morning, but once Chen gets possession of the sweater, she tosses it away in the doctor's lounge trashcan ASAP.

Romano kisses Weaver on the lips he was happy as he just found out that the Alderman (the guy who had VD from a few episodes back that was kept hush hush by Weaver) funneled some money, like $2.4 million, to County General. It pays to kiss some butt sometimes.

I think maybe Chen was just steamed about the whole thing and didn't want the sweater as a reminder. Or maybe not. Who knows? Like I said, I was just disappointed that she doesn't swallow...

Agreed about stopping the check. It'd be nice if they explained that next week (i.e., "I couldn't get the check stopped in time, Abby..." - Carter.)

Did anyone else find it odd that Romano kissed Weaver (something he's obviously wanted to do for years, [not that I blame him...]), and then he's the one to wipe it off?

Maybe it was a cashier's check? I seem to remember that Abby mentioned it was hand-delivered and to be taken to Carter immediately. Or something like that.

I too, did not see it coming either. Wow.

And for Romano planting a big wet one on Weaver. She really did look surprised...
