I'd second Ani DiFranco's "Dilate" to someone who's into Alanis. Also a few of her albums like "Little Plastic Castle," "Not a Pretty Girl," and "Out of Range."

Though I don't know if I'd recommend Ani to kvrdave. She's a pro-choice, socialist, stompy-booted feminist of dubious sexuality.

Also, if you dig on Alanis, check out Liz Phair's "Exile in Guyville." She's a bit less radical than Ani. Sort of a disillusioned/enlightened sorority girl thing going on.

I will try some of those out. I will admit that I listen to newer music so rarely that most of the names mean nothing to me.
