1) People dumb enough to buy and enjoy a movie not in the OAR should not have a DVD player. Learn to appreciate a movie while you are enjoying a movie.

2) You cannot have a med rare steak that isn't red and bloody folks. Learn how you like a steak and match it with one of the few ways you can cook a steak. I work in a kitchen....not a lab. Well done can't be juicey.

3) The American version of Godzilla was WAY better than that man in suit crap. I rubber doll moving at a sloths pace is not my idea of action.

4) Sports are wasted on me unless I'm holding a video game controller and swearing at Tiger Woods for cheating me out of a skin and the money I deserved to win. If bandwidth is ever an issue I know what I'll vote off the site first.

5) Sure Episode 1 & 2 were kinda bad but I watch them more than I watch the first 3.

6) Sharon Stone could never act but good gawd was she hot. If she was in I had to own it. Thank god that phase ended as soon as I started getting sex on a regualr basis.

I strongly support the death penalty and think it should be more severe. Putting a hard-core criminal to death by lethal injection is too humane. If you murder someone, you deserve to die painfully.

Marijuana should be decriminalized for use in the privacy of your home. It is no worse than alcohol, police have more serious things to worry about, and the tax money it could raise would be very beneficial to our economy.

- The death penalty sould be abolished. How can we call ourselves a civilized society when we deal with bad people by killing them, when we have the power to otherwise control them? If the crime is severe enough, then life imprisonment with absolutely no chance of parole, ever, should be sufficient. (Personally, I'd rather die than spend a long life in prison, so life imprisonment would be a more severe penalty in my mind.) Besides, it actually costs more for the government to deal with the mandatory appeals in a death penalty case than it does to house a prisoner.

- The United States should listen to, and carefully consider, the opinions of other countries when deciding foreign policy, and then make a determination based on what is in the best interests of the United States - which includes, IMO, the US' role as a world leader. What other people think about us does matter, although it can't be the most important determining factor.

- People bust on the French too much. They were our first ally and were indispensible in our efforts to form a new nation. You can disagree with their point of view while admiring their courage for truthfully expressing themselves.

- DVD cover art doesn't matter much, and shouldn't even be a consideration when deciding what DVD to buy.

- Although I've been pro-choice most of my life, I've never really examined why. I've just accepted it because others around me believed it. As I think about the issue more, I'm starting to believe that we shouldn't make a determination one way or the other (re: whether it's okay to abort a pregnancy) until we can determine, with scientific certainty, at what point a "human being" is created. In the meantime, maybe we ought to err on the side of protecting unborn children, with certain exceptions for medical reasons. I just don't know.

- Anyone who disagrees with me should go to Iraq to be a human shield. ;)

Prisons should be turned back into labor camps. Prison is a punishment, not a damn trip to the Holiday Inn. Prisoners should not be allowed to work out or watch cable. They are going to prison and should have to do hard labor and when they get out they should never want to go back because they will have to work their asses off. They don't have rights, they are in prison for crying out loud. If someone is getting the death penalty, get it over with. Give them one appeal and that's it. Quit wasting time and money and end their lives. If not, then just get rid of the damn thing and put their ass to work until the day they die.

I hate political parties. The Republicans and Democrats both suck. Every politician and candidate should have to be independent. Parties hamper the political process. It's about the issues that each candidate supports or doesn't support. People who vote according to party-line are ignorant and lazy.

Marijuana should be legalized. There will not be the mad rush to the weed bar like some believe. And the gov't could tax the hell out it - if people bitch about high dope taxes - make it illegal again.

I love going to the dentist - it is relaxing.

I have no obligation to justify my belief that without Han Solo and Chewbacca, there is no Star Wars movie. And no, I do not need to read such-and-such book to understand the so called "Expanded Universe." I don't care. Nothing happened with Luke, Han, and Leia after the final film. The credits rolled...it's over.

While I'm at it, Attack of the Clones was crap. It was a terrible movie in and of itself, and it was a terrible faux addition to the line-up. It was not "as good as Empire" or "better than Return of the Jedi." It was marginally better than the POS first prequel. I've tried to force myself to believe otherwise, but I cannot.

I will continue to get my coffee at gas stations instead of coffee houses. I will continue to enjoy it.

We're sorry that as Westerners we harbor some negative feelings about a religion that deserves some blame for the murder of thousands at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania, not to mention the continuous murder of non-combatant civilians in internationally recognized Israeli sovreign territory. -I wish that the death penalty were used more often. To actually make it a deterrent, I would make the last stage of drug, product testing mandatory on death penalty convicts, until they died or requested death. I would also make it a miminum of a manslaughter charge to knowingly withhold evidence in a death penalty case. Police officers and prosecutors who go for the death penalty when they know the client is innocent should be in jail themselves.

-We will never stop sex before marriage. Nor should we try. Everyone should be legally required to use birth control until they are willing to petition a board of some sort that they are ready. Additionally, prostitution should be legal and regulated, and adultery should be illegal. This would eliminate unwanted pregnancy, greatly reduce the spread of STDs, and would hopefully curb some of the more stupid actions of those desperate to have sex.

-People who think in terms of never, impossible and always are what keep us from learning and discovering. Sadly shortsited. As unlikely as god, bigfoot or aliens are, to dismiss them as impossible is at best foolish. Especially in light of the number of times we've been proven wrong when we thought that we knew everything.

-People will always find some context to discriminate against others. There is no way to stop people from thinking that in terms of us vs them Everyone IS competing for the same resources, if people find a convienent handle to lump large groups of others together, they'll take it.

-People should be able to do what they want to do with their own bodies, period. We do not need seatbelt laws, bans on drugs, have an abortion issue etc. People can do what they d@m well please to themself, as long as it doesn't interfere with my way of life.

-Cops need to spend 99% of their time on actual crimes, and less time, bothering me and other innocent drivers about my windows being tinted to dark, parking to far away from the curb, going 5 mph to fast etc. Aren't there actualy criminals out there, to keep you busy?!?

-Teachers DO get paid enough. Most have 2-3 months off a year have 8-3 hours, and a teacher's aid to grade their work & help them out. Sure you gotta put up with a lot of sh@t, but so do fast food workers, and you don't make a issue out of them getting paid squat.

-Banks and other goverment postions DO NOT need every pretend holiday off. Let's as a country come up with a set of holidays, that all businesses need to abide to, and follow. What's the point of going to work, when have the people you need to deal with, aren't working cause it's a holiday for their company..

-Kirsten Dunst is not pretty at all, either is Brittney Spear.

-NBA basic ball is unwatchable, YES even the playoffs.

-Athletes need to make an average american's salary. Example. Baseball is called "Americas Pasttime", let's pay 'em like it is. Don't know many making the kind of money they get for 1 season even.

-Suvs are dumb. Those trucks with the shorten bed are dumber.

-The music group Phish is terrible. Sounds like bands I heard playing in their garage in highschool.

-Jimmy Buffett is highly overrated.

-Dave Matthews is the soon to be Jimmy Buffett, in about 5 years.

I am not a racist. I think that all races are equally stupid and that all races have their fair share of sometimes true stereotypes. This does not make me a racist, it makes me a realist.

I don’t think respect is something that is granted with a high level college degree (i.e. PhD, MD, MBA, etc). Respect must be earned, and if I think a person does something wrong, I should be allowed to tell them that without them getting defensive about how they have a high level degree and therefore deserve my respect.

SUV’s are not evil. They are vehicles for transportation. I am a big guy and I can’t fit into a Suzuki X90. I need a big car. I don’t travel through the mountains in it. I drive it down the street, the same as the guy that drives a Honda Civic or a Ford Escort. Get used to it.

Reality TV sucks.

Windows isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. You try writing an Operating System that can handle virtually any piece of hardware you plug in. Of course it’s gonna have problems, but no more than any other operating system of it’s scope.

Linux is HIGHLY overrated.

Not eating meat because you don’t like the taste of meat is perfectly acceptable. Not eating meat because you think that the way that animals are killed is also perfectly acceptable, as it leaves more meat for me. Trying to convince yourself that by not eating meat, you will save even 1 cattle makes you delusional. Trying to convince me that I should not eat me makes you a self-imposing jerk.

Beer does taste good and is an acquired taste.

Very few bands are truly good. To qualify, you must a) write at least some of your own music, b) play an instrument well, c) be capable of singing a song at any time with a reasonably good voice, d) be conscious enough of your audience to know that you ARE potentially a role-model to them.

More people should be trained in the use of firearms and more people should carry them. To my admittedly limited knowledge, every country that has “right to carry” laws has seen a decrease in crime. This makes sense, as criminals aren’t nearly as likely to rob someone they think is packing heat.

All states should have a 10 cent bottle deposit system like Michigan’s. It should be structured in such a way that I could return bottles purchased in Alaska to a grocery store in Indiana and nobody would care.

Let's be honest here. There are three Star Wars movies. They are not called Episode IV, V, and VI. They are called "Star Wars", The Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi." I have no obligation to justify my belief that without Han Solo and Chewbacca, there is no Star Wars movie. And no, I do not need to read such-and-such book to understand the so called "Expanded Universe." I don't care. Nothing happened with Luke, Han, and Leia after the final film. The credits rolled...it's over.

While I'm at it, Attack of the Clones was crap. It was a terrible movie in and of itself, and it was a terrible faux addition to the line-up. It was not "as good as Empire" or "better than Return of the Jedi." It was marginally better than the POS first prequel. I've tried to force myself to believe otherwise, but I cannot.

I will continue to get my coffee at gas stations instead of coffee houses. I will continue to enjoy it.

If you are concerned with my health, don't be. If I kick off tomorrow, I'm not expecting flowers. If your true purpose is to turn people away from meat-products, then say so. Only if it is only one gene and if it confers no other benefits. Various cancers have been traced back to being caused by a multitude of genes. In fact, most "traits" are caused by the interaction of gene's. Also-look at sickle cell anemia-they should have died out a long time ago, right? Well, if they have both gene's, they do tend to have problems. However, it turns out that by having only one copy of the gene, they are afforded some protection from malaria, a much more common health threat.

Most things are not cut and dried.

- Jim Carrey doesn't get nearly the amount of respect as an actor he deserves (forgetting his massive popularity regardless)

- The Matrix is extremely overrated sci-fi movie (thanks guy above me for reminding me :)). People look for deep meaning where there is none, there are plot holes abound, and plot-wise it's not nearly as original as some people claim it is. Even the fighting scenes, while very stylish, are kind of dull after the first time - just too phony and not convincing enough for me.

- If cigarette smokers want us non-smokers to stop complaining, they can keep their damn smoke to themselves in the privacy of their own home or car. The only reason it's such an acceptable thing to do in public places is because the disgusting habit has so deeply permeated our society. Its popularity is no excuse. It's disgusting and it affects other people.

- Metroid Prime for the Gamecube is an overrated, unoriginal, mechanically dull game. If it weren't for the words 'Metroid' and 'Nintendo' slapped on the cover and the nostalgia involved with the series, the game wouldn't have a fraction the following it has now and the praise it gets.

- Metal Gear Solid 2, aside from its amazing production values, is a crappy game.

- Another videogame point - The Japanese game development community has seriously lost its touch over the past several years when it comes to making original, innovative, fresh titles that push the industry forward. There are the exceptions, but their specialty lies in taking an old and outdated game premise/series and slapping on a new coat of paint (the RPG genre being a prime example), and try to make up for that with super-high quality art direction.

- The Simpsons, as incredibly funny and ground-breaking as it once was, is not still "one of the best shows on television". Everything that made The Simpsons a great show and got it to where it is today has been completely abandoned by the writers, and it's not even the same show anymore. I don't care if it has "The Simpsons" as the title, it has become a very mediocre show that relies on overused sight gags and infantile humor. It has become a Family Guy-lite.

- Boston Public is a stupid show that relies on shock value and predicable yet idiotic plot twists to keep viewers watching. I hate that show.

- Boston Market, on the other hand, rocks. It doesn't give me the runs, and I think their food is very, very tasty.

- College isn't the fun-filled, happy-go-lucky, best-time-of-your-life place it's made out to be by people who tell you so before you get to college.

- The best part of life by far is childhood. No responsibilities, no worries, it's incredibly easy to have fun by doing anything and making new friends, and especially earlier on in childhood you're experiencing everything for the first time.

- Democrats do more to hurt minorities/poor/etc. than they do to help them. They are doctors keeping their patients sick to stay in business.

- People who buy SUVs and don't need them suck, but no more or no less than people who buy other gas-hungry vehicles that SUV-haters don't seem to feel the need to complain about.

- I don't have nearly as much money as I should have.

- Many rappers have a lot of talent (and many don't), but not talent that lies within the realm of 'musicality'. IOW, they are generally not musicians.

- The Stones were merely a *good* band back in the day, and their music has aged terribly. Get off the stage you old farts.

- In general, there's more racism amongst black people these days than there is amongst whites.

- This may not exactly be an unpopular opinion, but affirmative action needs to be abolished entirely. We need to tackle the issue AA is trying to address through education, not reverse racism. Kudos to Bush for standing out on this issue against AA in the Michigan situation.

- Owning a firearm isn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be, and in some ways should be encouraged. There need to be much stricter gun laws and enforcement, though, as well as better/more education on them - especially for children.

- Bush is a nice, easy-going, friendly guy but not very bright. In my opinion, and from what I've heard, in actuality it's the other way around. He's in fact a very bright, very smart man, but very tempermental and not that approachable.

- Abortions for all, miniature american flags for none!

- While I'm very respectful of other people's right to worship the god they want and partake in any religion, organized religion itself is a joke. The notion that there is an "afterlife" is laughable and exists only out of man's age-old fear of your self-consciousness ceasing to exist for all of eternity once you die (something that most religions exploit), and you don't need to be a member of a gigantic cult to embody the same principles, ethics and morals that organized religions do. Not to say that it's a bad thing -- it's certainly done a world of good for many, many people, and creates wonderful communities. But in this era of humanity, the same should and can be done through a means that doesn't rely on ancient and outdated tales and spiritual beliefs that religions can exploit and shape people's lives with. The bumper sticker on the car in front of me the other week was right: organized religions are just cults with lots more people, and ones I might add that have somehow managed to sustain hundreds or thousands of years.
That's just my opinion on ORs, though. Again, I fully respect people who are members of a religion, and it's not hard for me to see the draws it has. It just doesn't draw me.

In a truly free market I would agree. In a free market, people, no matter what they do are worth exactly what other people, directly and indirectly, are willing to pay for their services.

But since the courts have taken away the owners' right to run their businesses the way they see fit (with government forced "free" agency etc.) it is not a free market and athletes are able to get more than their free market value. How much more is anybody's guess and we will never know unless a sports free market is restored.

Which I'm not holding my breath for.:(

1. Bad business practices. Medical malpractice litigation costs have stayed flat. Despite what you may or may not have heard, awards are not rising. Meanwhile, malpractice premiums have soared. Why? Because the stock market tanked. Bad investments have caused insurance companies to raise rates - not runaway juries or "greedy trial lawyers." In fact, even the insurance companies have said that medical malpractice caps will NOT lower rates!!! Go figure...

I am glad somebody else feels the same way. Very well put, brizz. These people were in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's it. If these people were at a U.S. military installation, this compensation bull***** would have never happened. He gets a lot of flack for his political stances and being very vocal about them, but I think he's a very versatile actor and can be really funny, as his SNL appearances prove.

Another unpopular opinion of mine:

Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't get a fraction the respect he deserves. People hate on him because he's a hollywood pretty-boy and was in the everybody-loves-to-hate Titanic. But he is a very gifted, and he deserves a hell of a lot of repsect for not selling out after his enormous popularity from Titanic. Did we see him in cell-phone commercials, Michael Bay movies and other sell-out jobs? No. He took roles in more obscure movies, a Woody Allen movie, the two terrific movies he's in that are out now, and keeps a relatively low public profile all the while. I can't fathom why some people hate him so much, aside from jealousy.

Smoking should never be illegal. Saying it should be illegal because non smokers are forced to deal with the stench is like saying it should be illegal for people to skip a day without showering every once in a while because it would force random people to smell their BO, or making it illegal to brush less than twice a day and use mouthwash, lest an innocent bystander gets a whiff of stinky breath. If I want to smoke in my house or in my car, that's my right, and in my unpopular opinion, it is elitist to try and deny me of that right. I say this merely because of the attitude I see in most non-smokers who try and push the issue... for some reason they always seem to have an attitude of superiority.

The only one I disagree on. If you're by yourself, do what you want. If others are present, and you plan on messing up my lungs, I'd better like the smell.



Pot should be legalized, and I don't smoke it. It should be legalized because our taxes are not only paying to support these "criminals" in prison who get caught with pot or selling it, but also go to paying the salaries of the police officers who are after them. IMO, the whole thing is a complete waste of time for the little amount of harm that pot can do. Alcohol has the potential of doing just as much damage... can you imagine how much money would be wasted on enforcement if they tried to make alcohol illegal again?


Agreed (and I don't smoke either), but one other thing. Legalization advocates, stop trying to claim that you want hemp and marajuana legalized because they just so happen to be the perfect plant. Maybe hemp could replace cotton, paper and wood, but so what. We HAVE paper, cotton and wood. They work great and don't need replacing. Say that you or that someone that you know wants to get high, and and it's already the #1 cash crop in a number of states so why not get some tax $$$ out of it instead of wasting money trying to stop it.

I'd also say that casual sex comes with a barbed hook too. From a guy, very unpopular. I think both tend to make sex more of a means to an end. A fun means to a very fun end, but ultimately not harmless.

People who immigrate to the United States should learn to speak the language within a minimum period of time, at least enough to get by. This should be tested, as a condition of being allowed to live here. I have seen far too many people who don't speak English either just plain being too proud, thinking they are too old to learn a new language, or even being upset at ME because I don't speak Spanish or Korean or whatever it is. And don't give me PC crap about this either, because I grew up in a foreign country and my whole family learned the language because we have COMMON SENSE.

I hate this too. If you learn later in life, you'll have an accent, no big deal. But not being able to understand the language is just stupid, unless you have no plans on interacting with anyone who dosen't speak your language. Not likely. And dangerous too-how well are you able to understand road signs.

I agree on the US lingual issue. I think it is important, culturally and intellectually, to learn a second language, but to force it through conforming to the languages immigrants bring into the US is absurd. We have huge groups of people in this country who can't communicate with one another, and that is just bad. Immigrants who come into this country should have to learn the established language of this country - English.

Compare High Grant's single role as an uptight Englishman to Vin Diesel's stockbroker/businessman role in Boiler Room vs his role as a mass murderer in Pitch Black vs. secret agent man in XXX. Diesel hasn't been around as long, so he hasn't really had an opportunity to "prove himself" yet, perhaps.

Plus, I don't really care about his ACTING ability. he's hot, that's it. Hugh grant is annoying. They could have the same exact acting ability, and I'd still hate Hugh and be infatuated with Vin. and such is my unpopular opinion :)

I actually think Leonardo DiCaprio is an excellent actor (watch him in What's Eating Gilbert Grape), I just find him annoying. Same with Alec Baldwin, athough between the two I think Leo is a better actor.

I agree, casual sex is not harmless, but most people end up realizing it and I wouldn't consider it an unpopular opinion. However, I don't think most people realize the harm porn can do. I'm not saying I think it should be banned, cuz I watch it muyself, but I think people need to realize that it does have negative effects, to the single person or the couple.

So just because something is the status quo it means that it should be immune to change? You may have not explicitly said just that but that's the general gist of your argument. Do you realize that if this attitude was the dominant one that we'd still have slaves?
