Ramones Tribute CD

I don't know when it comes out yet, but I just heard Rob Zombie's version of Blitzkrieg Bop on the radio, and it sucks. He slowed it way down.

I hate tribute albums, but these few tracks to me look slightly promising. I seriously can hear Chrissie Hynde singing Something to Believe in right now, and the song is perfect for the Pretenders.

My first reaction to seeing the Chili Peppers right up front was not good (I've long lost interest in them, but used to be a loyal fan), but then imagined their old school style couple with Havana Affair. It could work, if they "kept it real", meaning going all Freaky Stylely, and not Californication.

KISS's outing will probably not amount to anything earth shattering, but what can I say, I still love 'em.

Tom Waits... niiiice.

But U2, Eddie Vedder, Green Day, Rancid, The Offspring??? Gah, they can all blow me. Sure, U2 is great, but doing the Ramones? And old school Ramones like Beat on the Brat? I hardly think their current musical leanings will fit well with that song and do it any justice. As for the others... ick. Just plain and simple... ick.

This album will last three times longer than the average Ramones album.

Manson's version of "KKK took...." is WAY WAY slowed down. It's a definite Manson mellow song.....

I downloaded this a few weeks back...the above tracks are pretty good...the ones with stars are excellent covers, the others are decent...the ones not listed just suck balls.... Strictly for big fans only...and even then, you'll probably be disappointed, because these songs lose a lot of the SPIRIT the ramones had, which was their appeal... although the vedder and u2 tracks are pretty stellar...

Thanks for the info. I might check it out too since I've got a $500 gift card from Target.

I liked the first tribute CD with the exception of that awful Rob Zombie version of Blitzkrieg Bop. I'll have to check out that second one. Ramones are definitely a favorite of mine.

Blondie and Joan Jett (who were friends of The Ramones) would have been cool.
