Wow. and to beef up the system wars each system will have their respected own characters. Kind of sucks in an overview of it all.
I do hope their is more of a line up, Soul Calibur II's character select screen seems pretty empty without a lot of other faces (Even if they were just different skins of the other characters I.E. sophia/lizardman)
Link does look pretty cool though.

Namco announces special guest characters for console versions of Soul Calibur II, including Link, Spawn, and Heihachi.
Namco has officially announced the lineup of guest characters that will be appearing in the individual console versions of Soul Calibur II. Link from The Legend of Zelda series will be appearing in the GameCube version of the game while a bare-fisted Heihachi from the Tekken series and Todd McFarlane's Spawn will appear in the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions respectively. All three versions of Soul Calibur II will feature the fighter known as Necrid, a character created specifically for Soul Calibur II by Todd McFarlane Productions. Click on any of the previous links to see these characters in each respective console version of Soul Calibur II.
As far as gameplay modes are concerned, each version of Soul Calibur II will feature arcade, versus, time attack, survival, team battle, and practice. In addition, the game will feature an entirely new mode called weapon master, in which players can collect and equip their character with over 200 different weapons.
Soul Calibur II is scheduled for release on March 27 in Japan. The North American versions have been slated for an August 2003 release.

How the hell does it take 5 months to get a FIGHTING game from Japan to USA?
That's right, we're dealing with Namco USA, a bunch of ass monkeys who wouldn't know a video game from a can of lemonade.

2) Well.. I personally would think it would rock if they made cartoon Link in this game amongst all the big bad beefy characters.

Heihachi? HEIHACHI?!??!?
The GC gets an ultra-cool Link, and the X-Box gets the interesting Spawn, but the PS2 gets the .....yawn....most dull character.
Heck, I'd prefer Parappa as a character than Heihachi.

Spawn needs his cape. I've never liked the "Commando" Spawn look.
Which one to get, which one to get...I'm leaning towards Gamecube at this point.

It's a tough call between XBOX and GC for me.
If they both look and play the same I'm going for Spawn on the XBOX. Link is good and all but I would love to fight as Spawn.
And I agree that the PS2 got screwed. No wonder I hardly buy any games for that system lately.

Surprisingly the graphics for all three systems looks really similar. The texture work on Heihachi was a bit of a shock since PS2 games generally look a little "muddier". Good coding I guess.
As for extra characters, I think the GC got the best of the deal of the lot. Link looks super cool like the original Zelda demo. I wonder if he's based on the same model? I think spawn is a so-so choice as well. Having a Tekken character is cool, but I was always a Hworang or Bruce guy myself. At least they didn't include Gon or Dr. B!
