"Fear Factor" is just plain vile.

Never really watch the show on a regular basis, but I did happen to see a little of it last night, and the 'rat' race came across as the most vomit inducing things I have ever seen on TV.. so far. Even if they were bred in captivity how disease-free are rats? ack!

I agree. The stuff on that show makes me want to throw up.

I hate to admit this...but this is probably the one of the only guilty pleasures that I have. [Raw/Smackdown would be the other...but I just watch that for Trish ]

Anyways...I don't necessarily go out of my way to watch this [i'm usually watching Boston Public], but if I have a free blank tape [no TiVo yet] i'll throw it in.

I do have a gripe about one ep i've seen. There was a stunt that had the contestants on a dock with a big crate of fish heads & 4 different plates. Each with a different part of a fish that they were supposed to eat. [In the interest of not grossing anyone out, i'll spare the descriptions] So...they had to reach in the bin and find a complete fish. After finding it, they reach inside the fish to get a chip which has the number that tells them what plate they have to eat. Once all three get their numbers, the first two that finish what's on the plate advance and the last goes home.

So, it's the ladies turn. One of the girls [who was quite cute] finds the complete fish. She reaches inside and pulls out the chip. [Oh, I forgot to mention, the insides of the fish looked like it was ALL teeth] When she pulls out her arm, there's blood on it. She says she wasn't sure if it was hers or the fish's. She gives the chip to Joe and goes back in line to wait for the last girl to get her chip.

As the last female is preparing to find the fish, the previous girl says her arm feels like its burning and runs off. Cut to commercial. When they come back, Joe says the show's medical team has checked her arm out and they discovered that she had a [previously unknown] allergic reaction to the fish. Joe then asked her if she wanted to continue the challenge. She said she wouldn't and it was better to be safe than sorry. So she was dismissed!

Is it just me or was that wrong?? She had an allergic reaction to just TOUCHING a fish and they're still wondering if she wants to INGEST some internal fish parts?!?!?

Fear Factor has gone over the edge now, IMO. I no longer watch it.

Um, the show is called "Fear Factor." The normal rights and wrongs do not apply.

I've heard that the contestants have to take Ipecac (vomit inducer) after they eat all the bugs and livestock private parts, etc. Rogan even made a joke about it when he was on some MTV Spring Break Fear Factor.

My gripe was with last nights first challange of the Log walk. How the hell did they expect any of them to do it? I figure FEAR FACTOR just wanted to cut the award money in half.

Don't know about the Ipecac, but a while back in the NY Daily News [or Post] they interviewed the man that seeks out all the sick things for the contestants to eat.

They might sound sick to us, but everything being devoured is a delicacy somewhere in the world...

Do they spray those bugs with disenfectants before they make the contestants eat them? Those bugs bred in the wild are really kinda nasty.

Well, under that theory, how long is till we see contestant's dining on dead cats.

This show is no longer about fear, it just seems now to cater to sadists and masochists.

Chalk me up as one who loves the show.

I love when the contestants diss the others and say "Oh, I am getting that $50,000 dollars. It's all me!"

And then they **** up on the stunt they said the other person couldn't do.

Then we get to the second stunt. The eating stunt. I would rather do something like the mouth rat toss than a lot of the other things they have to do. Horse rectum looks awfully familiar to a lot of other things I eat for some reason. It looked like a huge piece of uncooked bacon, IMO. YUM!

I always get a kick out of the slow motion walking the contestants do while a voice over comes. I laugh my ass off. They all look so gay...

Love the show though.

The stunts are sometimes cool and many of them do actually require bravery (i.e. facing one's fears).

But the whole eating thing is misplaced. I'm not AFRAID to eat an elephant's testicle. I just find it gross.

The problem here is that most of the stunts are still safe, even the gross things, people are overcoming a fear to do something.

But if she's allergic, then it's actually dangerous to her. There's a difference between doing something you're afraid of(having a knife thrown at you) and doing something you know will cause you physical harm(being stabbed)

I could stand having a knife thrown at me, I'm allergic to being stabbed.

Can we try to think of other words to use in this situation than "gay?" I doubt you mean anything by it, but using that word in that way can be offensive to people. Thanks.

IS FEAR EVER THE FACTOR?

How many of you has seen a contestant go, "I'm afraid of this, I will quit this game?"
