New American Idol...So who is going to watch?

Starting January 21st.

I don't think I can watch. It's just going to be too forced now.

The Judges...

Simon. His quips are already old and the show hasn't even started yet. Everyone made such a big deal about him the last show, I have a feeling he will be over the top now.

Paula Abdul. I don't think I can listen to a single word out of her mouth again.

The other guy. Hey man...like those shoes. 'Nuff said.

The Contestants...

Unfortunately the idiots are going to come out of the wood work to act ridiculous by auditioning just to get on TV when they clearly know they cannot sing.

It's too soon. Moving too fast to capitalize on the success of the last one. They haven't even released the album of the last winner yet, for Pete's sake.

Eh...who am I kidding...

I would have recorded it and watched Buffy but I have class on Tuesday nights so I have to tape Buffy. The audition episodes are the only ones I really wanted to see because those are usually the best.

I will time-shift it, and will most probably fast-forward through most of the judges' comments except for the the thrashing by Simon of many of the contestants for the 1st month or so.

Ditto. I can think of a few hundred reasons not to watch what will almost certainly be a hollow shell of the good stuff from last season with the bad stuff magnified 10-fold, but like that damn proverbial mountain, I will watch it ... because it's there.

I should be ashamed of myself.

But last season was Simon's 2nd season so he already had the big head going in

I missed it last year because it was up against something else I watched ("The Mole" maybe?) I'll probably watch just to see the bad auditions.

Talent Contests are not "reality tv" -- they've been around forever

Should have put quotes around "talent" too...and "contest" for that matter.

Yet another reality show I'm not going to be watching. Enjoy!

I'll watch the first one if I don't miss it like I did last season when I only caught the last half. The first show is by far the best and then it's all downhill as the talent gets better.

Three things kept me watching last season:
Simon
Pretty girls
No competition in the time slot

Unfortunately, American Idol is up against both Gilmore Girls and Buffy I only have two cable boxes and two Replay Tvs so I can only record two shows at once.

Although Buffy gets pre-empted here by my UPN station alot so perhaps I can watch sporadically.

I'll watch tonight to see the people-off-the-street auditions, but after that's over, count me out.

Once everybody left is a decent singer it's no fun anymore.

Not I. Buffy and all and it has to be something pretty special for my TIVO-less butt to get the motivation to load a tape, much less watch said tape later.

I figure, I've done it once. It was a good ride. Now it'll be all about the bandwagon and people know what to expect. [the surprise element was shockingly important I think. Now we know how it goes down.] Plus, they kept that tool Seacrest over Dunkleman and if I needed to listen to a pompous loudmouth I'd listen to the morning radio show on any Clear Channel station.

Were it not for Buffy I'd watch the audition round. It's a sound premise and a good laugh. I don't think I have the gonadal fortitude to withstand another Guarini onslaught.

That nerdy white kid with the glasses who sang "Celebrate" in the previews was god awful!..but in a hilarious kind of way!

Say what you will about Simon but everything thing he says is dead on!..He's just got the guts to say it to someone face!!

Unlike Paula Abdul who tries to be nice with everybody but then again what would she no about singing she's got one of the worst voices ever

I'll probably record and watch the auditions tonight, but that's about it. It's like seeing a car accident, you don't wanna watch, but you have to! I have to see the bad singers and Simon's reaction to them.

Y'all realize that there's 2 hours of AI tonight. Skip the 1st hour, and tape the second hour (in 24's time slot).
