Good Gamecube deal at Fry's B&M

The 1/3/2003 Fry's ad in the San Jose Mercury News has the following Gamecube deal:

1 Gamecube System (Idigo or Black)
1 Wavebird Wireless Controller
1 Robotech Battlecry

$229.97 - $80.00 Instant Savings = $149.97 In-Store Price

This looks like a good deal to my eyes. Price valid through 1/7/2003

Why are you doing this to me? I am trying so hard to be good. I am trying so hard to not give in and buy a Gamecube, and then a deal like this comes along, with a game that I actually want, and an extra controller to boot. Argh!

I don't know how much longer I can resist! (Of course the fact that it has to be Indigo or Black might sway me, because I really wanted that Platinum one. )

Man if I did not already have one & there were a FRYs here I would be on that ... you could always exchange the game for another or even the console for that matter for a platinum one. The Wavebird rocks...

I am going to try getting Best buy to match this deal. If they do a GC will finally be mine. It was also listed in the Sacramento bee. This is a hot deal since it is instant and does not require a mail in rebate

Yeah, If my FA check comes in today I will probably pick one up and try to exchange the system for a platinum one... as opposed to buying books or something. Books are overrated anyway.

Well thanks a lot! I now own my very own GameCube. With the Wavebird (which is awesome!) and Robotech Battlecry. I had to go to Target to find Metroid Prime and a memory card. So, I am all set with 2 games, 2 controllers, a memory card, and the system of course, for just over $200!

I got the only Black system left; I didn't notice that it was an 'open box' item, but it is covered by the same warranty as if it was new, and so far it seems to be working just fine. The black one is cool, so I didn't try to exchange it for the Platinum one. I just wanted to get home and start playing.
