The guy at my local EB said Amped for XBOX is on their exclude list. PLus any onld sports game (from last season or older).

Yeah, there was a trade in a PS2 game and get a $50 PS2 game for $30. So, I brought 3 PS2 games(SSX, WWF Smackdown, GT3) and they wouldn't take any of them. I asked if they would take 2 or even 3, and they said no. So basically, they only take games released in the past 2 months. (I did this several days ago, before I saw this post).

If this is the case(which it is), they should say so on there coupons that MOST games are NOT accepted except brand new titles. I basically wasted a trip to the mall just to find this out.

I've decided to boycot EB from now on. Best Buy is in the same mall, and will be getting all my B+M purchases.

I'm surprised Luigi's Mansion and Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 aren't excluded. There's usually a pile of them at my local EB.

You guys are being so pessimistic. It isn't all new games you just have to look at how much they can be purchased for new. If a game is $20 new they arent going to take it. But, if a game is $40-50 new and you find it at a blockbuster for 9.99-14.99. Always have the BBV guy pricecheck, often the true price is $10 lower than what is stickered because they dont get updated. After going to a few you will start to know. It helps if you have this list with you next time you hit a blockbuster during buy2get one free. Several of the cheaper titles can be used, you just need to check the list.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to take titles like Smackdown or SSX, considering these are greatest hits now, and they can't even sell them for 20 bucks used anymore. But I do miss the days when they took any game as a trade-in.

Back in the day, I got my Dreamcast for 100 bucks because I traded in a bunch of useless PS1 games (like some 2 year old sports games) at Toys R Us, no less. I remember similar deals for the previous generation of systems. It was a way to get rid of a lot of older games that I would never play again/made a mistake in buying. I guess they didn't care whether or not they could resell them.

Now games depreciate really fast as far as buy-back value goes, but you rarely see cheap used games at these stores. A lot of times, they sell it for 5 bucks under retail, or if they don't update frequently, they actually sell the used games for more than the new ones... if not for Blockbuster and their Buy 2 get one free deals, as well as Target's insane markdowns, I would'nt have any Gamecube games at all...

This list is used to determine if games you are trading in can be used for special promotions. (trade in 2 get a new preorder free...etc) You can still trade excluded games in for credit, just not towards the special deals.

Well there was a deal for trade in 2 games (not on list) and get a preorder on one of the flyers for free. I went to BBV and got Mark of Kri (for me) and wipeout fusion/no one lives forever (for EB) but that ended on the 31st.

If you check this site regularly there are posts for EB deals a lot. Also there are periodic flyers in store with deals. Worst case try calling the store and asking about any current deals.

I traded in Bloody Roar for the GC and did the 'trade in 1 game, get new game for 30 bucks' deal. They let me pre-order the new Zelda this way, even though the deal doesn't state that it covers pre-orders.
