Need a quick answer about hooking a dvd player to a home theater system

Alright, I'm hooking up my new Onkyo HTS650 today. I'm wiring a Toshiba SD-1600 dvd player to it. Do I need to run the analog audio to the theater system in addition to the digital coax or should I simply run the digital coax? The directions are confusing on this matter. They show running both, but I was told that the digital coax replaces the analog. Can somebody help me out ASAP? Thanks.

Just run the digital coax, you don't need the analog connections.

You only need the analog for DVD-Audio or SACD.

Ah, okay. So the digital coax for the dvds. What if I plan to play cds through the player as well. Do I need the analogs for that, or will the digital coax suffice for them as well?
