Target price cut on GCN Eternal Darkness...over??

Before Christmas, this game was marked down to $28.88. But due to many other game purchases, I passed.

So today I try to buy it, and it's $49.99. However, when I asked the employee to scan it to make sure, the "return w/o receipt price" was $28.88. I knew I hadn't lost my mind.

I was assuming the pricecuts were permanent--titles they were clearing out. I guess this is not the case?

Anyone know where to buy this new at very close to this price?
Thanks.

Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, the Mickey Mouse game, Monster's Inc., and some other titles were all 28.88 most of December. It was odd, because they weren't advertised prices, they lasted more than the usual week that sales usually last, and the price ended in an uneven .88, a sure sign of clearancing at Target. And yet they didn't put the telltale red stickers on them. Even when they took the signs down, I still got Pikmin for that price the week before Xmas. I guess it was a temporary thing, but I'm thinking that it'll be back. Target seems the most aggressive at making sure that they're not stuck with a lot of backstock of games, and as newer titles come out, I'm sure these will be discounted again.

I believe they do still have Resident Evil Remake for 19.99, and Rouge Leader and Waverace for 29.99.

If you're still looking for ED, it's 19.99 at Best Buy. Online as well, free shipping.

There are quite a few games that are $20 or less at BBuy, ED being one of them.

I was just at BB a few days ago and they still had it for 49.99, is the 19.99 price just on the website or is my BB just behind in pricing it down?

Best Buy's prices seem to be universal. For instance, someone here reported that Rogue Leader was going for $19.99. I looked on the web and they had that price. In my B&M the tag showed $39.99, but it rang up at $19.99. I'm betting that ED will ring up at $19.99 at your store, regardless of the ticketed price. The B&M prices almost always match the web prices.

I know where I'll be heading tomorrow.

Did you have them scan it? I've bought several games on sale at BB that were marked full price, but rang up at the sale price.

I just bought ED from BestBuy for fifteen bucks and some change. Just put $16 on a Gamers Gift Card (which comes with a $5 off coupon for games $19.99 and over) and use it to pay for the game.

P.S. This is in MI.

Well I'm headed there tomorrow anyway to pick up a CD so I'll see if it does ring up at 19.99 if they haven't gotten around to putting a new price on it yet.

Yeah, the local B&M Best buy is really slow at changing their prices. I bought both NCAA Football 2003 and Rogue Leader for 19.99 (15 after coupon), but the displays both showed full retail price. The only way I knew about it was by going to forums like this.

My local Best Buy was out of them and I just came home to order it online and now it's gone. I guess I'll check another BB or two tomorrow.

Eternal Darkness is back up at bestbuy.com, but you can only order it for store pickup. This will at least tell you which stores have it in stock and get them to hold a copy if you want.

I'm not sure what the corporate policy is, but I had something similar happen once at Best Buy B&M (price at that store was different than I'd heard from others and online), and I spoke with the manager about it. He checked the web site and then adjusted the price manually for me. You could try that; just a guess, but maybe that store just hadn't updated its system to reflect the new price set by corporate.

picked up a copy today for $14.99 after the $5 coupon... (had a $15 gift card and used it to purchase three $5 gamers gift cards each with the $5 of $19.99 or more coupon enclosed), then used those three gift cards to purchase Eternal Darkness

My friend who was with me looked at me like I was nuts, until I got him the same deal...
