Super Monkey Ball 1 or 2?

I have a question for those of you who have played both Monkey Ball games.
Is it worth it to get the first Super Monkey Ball? Or is the 2nd edition comparable enough with improvements that there isn't really a need for the first? Thanks for your insights.

You don't really need the first. The single player levels are different, but you will have hundreds of other single player levels on SMB2.

That is helpful, considering I am mostly interested in the multi-player aspect of the game.

I asked the exact same question back in Sept. when I first got my game cube. Take a look at the thread below, you will find a lot of information about the two games:

Thanks Ottolam. That is what I was looking for. I did a search for "Super Monkey" and that didn't come up because I only did three months back. A few days off I guess.

By the way, there is a Super Monkey Ball Jr. for GBA in case you are interested. I am not sure if it is any good. Anyone tried it?

I like the single player better in the first game and the original Monkey Target is the best multiplayer game in either of them, IMO. At $30 I would go for the original.

I agree that Monkey Target is better on the first game, and it is also the best multiplayer game on either version. That being said, I would tell you to just get either one, becuase both are very fun.

when I asked the same question back in Sept., I have decided to get SMB1 first, then get SMB2 when the price drop. Now 3 months later, the price is still $50. So, I guess I just have to keep waiting...

SMB2 is progressive scan. SMB1 is not.

Thanks for all the helpful insights! I have SMB2 on order, now I need to decide if I should throw down some extra cash for the Target game on SMB1.
