$2000 for a new TV.

So, I have about $2000 that I am going to allot for myself for a new TV about the end of the year. I am curious as to what TV you guys feel would fit me best.

Needs:

Widescreen (16x9)
Over 50"
Decent Comb Filter
Duel Tuner
Atleast 2 Component out and S Video Outs.
HD-TV ready


The two models that I have received $1,999 quotes for is the

Sony HP-61HS30 and the

Toshiba 65H82

I would be picking up the TV locally from a store in the Metro Phoenix area.

Any thoughts about these two or any other brands/models in this price range..

Wait until Jan/Feb. All the new models are going to be announced at the CES show in Vegas on Jan 9. You will start to see this years sets drop in price as they make way for Mar/Apr delivery of the new stuff.

You should be able to find a Pioneer or Mits for around $2000 with the specs you are looking for. Those are supposedly the TWO brands of TV's to buy

I had planned on waiting until Jan/Feb anyway...after receiving alot of the same advice from co-workers...(being that they are hosting tons of home/car audio products there.

Referring to the other post, I havent heard anything about Pioneer and their widescreen TV's..and for some reason, The Mitsu's that I could afford would be the silver series...and they just dont seem to be as appealing as the two models that I have mentioned..

Anyone else with any feedback?

Avoid Sony as they are good TVs but not good values. Remember you probably want to have some sort of product replacement plan... Best bet is to get a floor-model (should discount you about $300-400) -- just make sure its in good condition. There's terrible floor models and there's excellent ones (three day later returns with a tiniy scratch in a back panel out of sight). I got a 43" Hitachi WS with a stand and a warranty and delivery etc. etc. for $2000 and I'm very happy.

I thought that the Sony 61" TV was a good value for $1,999...
Also the 65" Toshiba both as good deals for $1,999.

I do agree with you that a floor model is a great way to go with a protection plan.

I will probably go that route..

Check out the Philips line of HDTV's. I have a 55pp9701 and love it!! I have never read a bad review on Philips HDTV's !
check out-- epinions.com They have customer reviews on HDTV's there The 9701 is also the best looking rear projection on the market. Most say so who have seen this tv. Good Luck

I thought that it was a good deal too..and I realized last night when I went back there, that it was their everyday price....

I am still going to wait a couple months....hoping for a good open-box/year-end-closeout special.

I did take a glance at some of the Philips line of TV's... but when I think "big screen" Philips doesnt come to mind for some reason.

Be careful with floor models though. Usually they are kept running ALL day, thus there is already wear and tear on them.

I believe i got my 55" Mitsu for around $2000. I think it was the 2001 model though. Still is great though. I'm not exactly sure of the model name quite yet...i can look it up if needed.

I can see your point on the Philips line, it is true they dont have a huge line up of HD tv's. But if u can find a bad review on a Philips, i would like to see it. Also, if u are familiar with the brand "Marantz" which is probably the best line of HDTV's, Philips owns Marantz. So that would lead me to believe that Philips has very good quaility HDTV's.

Marantz is a completely different level than Mits, Tosh, Sony, etc.

That is the gucci stuff. (very nice but you pay for it..)

HAHA Marantz is the gucci of tv's....true, might it be that Philips incorporates thier technology into thier hdtv's?? I'm not a video electronics guru but put 2 and 2 together.... but i think u should be happy with any on the tv's mentioned, now get yourself that good deal!! =)

My relatively new TV has a "digital noise reduction" for the picture which cleans up my grainy cable signal pretty good. I highly recommend this feature.

Well, the store manager seemed to know what he was talking about and said that the TV had been there only one or two days. It was a return they put on the floor and wasn't even connected to anything. Close to a year later and still getting top-notch results. $2000 is a lot but I've gotten a lot out of it.

I like that TV too...but how is that TV much better than the

Toshiba 65H82 model that I had initially said that I liked with a price tag of $1,999??

15" and only $200 more seems like a hell of a deal to me..unless I am missing something important???

how important is the (3:2) pulldown feature..

'Cause briefly looking over the specs from the

Toshiba 65H82 and Toshiba 65HX81 is that feature..and almost $1000.

Could someone shed some light for me....?
