Dinotopia cancelled
another show bites the dust.
I think ABC would be better off going dead for that hour. That's the second show that's died almost instantly in that timeslot

It already died? And I haven't even sample an episode yet.

It speaks volumes about the lameness of ABC that even those who were vaguely interested in sampling this never got the chance... I barely knew it had started (late) before it was cancelled...

I think they showed at least 3 episodes, maybe 4. I watched the 2 hour premiere and thought it was ok. The main problem with it was none of the main characters really had much charisma. It wasn't bad though, had good visuals. It was on opposite some other show that I'd rather watch (forget what), so I never watched it again after the premier.

Well, I'm glad I didn't invest any time in the series.
My daughter and I watched the miniseries on DVD, and thought it was decent self-contained entertainment, but certainly nothing that required the need for expanded series coverage.

I watched about half of the miniseries. I had trouble getting past how many changes they made to the (wonderful, imaginative) book. I can deal with changes and adaptations, but this seemed to have very little to do with the book, for no good reason.
Even looking past that stuff and just treating it like an original work, it was mediocre at best. Disappointing program, especially given how much great material they had to work with.

As a (more or less) ABC employee, I think we're going the right direction getting NBA games. If we can't come up with popular shows, we need the sports. I guess the John Ritter show is doing alright though.
And I look forward to the return of Ed O'Neill next year in "Married with Dragnet" as I'm calling it. And I have a great idea that will never come to fruition...now that ABC has contracted him and Katey Sagal, they could do a reunion show. David Faustino's not doing anything, and Christina Applegate does movies...
