Anyone remember Battletoads?

Battletoads was a game that I really enjoyed on the NES. I'm really surprised that nobody has tried to give it another go around any of the new consoles.

I enjoyed that game as well. Hopefully someone picks up the rights to this franchise and does a good remake.

THat game was hard, i never beat it. The part I couldn't get past was the turbo tunnel, which is the 3rd level i think, near the end it starts moving super fast and i always died!! it was fun though.

The one thing that really sticks in my mind from that game was the pause clapping music. Anyone who has played it knows it instantly .

I wouldn't be surprised if the rights to Battletoads are in dispute. You would think that Rare would own the rights to the franchise, but I think they were contracted by Tradewest to create the games. So it may be possible that Tradewest owns the rights. I'm not even sure that Tradewest exists anymore, so no telling what's going on with it. The reason I'm thinking that Rare does not have the rights is because it would have made perfect sense for Rare to release a sequel on N64. It just seems like it would have happened if Rare had access to the series.

I remember looking at Nintendo Power way back in the day and wishing that I could have Battletoads. I never even got to play it until I downloaded an NES emulator a couple years ago.

Yeah, I bought Battletoads when it came out for the NES. Awesome game at the time...not sure about now though.

A sequel would be cool though. I'd play it.

I think I still have the battle toad Cart somewhere? I might be at my parents house. I never sold it, so it must be somewhere.

Wasn't there Super Battletoads on the SNES?

I can actually say that I beat the original. The jetski stuff was killer but I totally went into this "Zen" mode and got through it completely on memorization of the pattern. I was so proud...

I didn't ever beat this game either. Curse my 6 year old mind. The turbo tunnel was a snap, but it was that damn last level that I couldn't beat the spinning tower with the damn jumping. Never did get to see the final boss if I remember correctly.

Remember the Battletoads and Ninja Turtles game?
It was a Battletoads\Double Dragon game, and yes, I remember it .

I would like to think that an updated Batletoads game would rock, but they'd probably go 3D and screw it up somehow. If it were done like the new Contra, though...
