Survivor 12/05/02 (spoilers)

So far:

The reward challenge was the family member visit. The twist was that the family members competed for the chance to spend a day as a Survivor. The look on the loved ones' faces was totally priceless. Brian's hottie wife bailed on him after the 2nd entree (water roach). Too bad. It was a final showdown between Helen's husband and Jake's wife. Helen's hubby downed a boiled scorpion to win the "reward".

Helen's a complete spaz when it comes to her family. I didn't think anything could top when she freaked out at the family videos. Guess I was wrong.

Helen is very much an over-emotional person. How she's lasted in the Navy this long amazes me.

Update: The loved ones were brought back and teamed up with their relatives in order to compete for immunity. They had to grab pieces and create the correct shape for it (think 3-D puzzle). Ted and his brother were the winners, so Ted has immunity.

If I had to guess, either Jake or Clay is on the hot seat to get the boot, probably Jake will go.

The 11th person to get the boot is:

Jake - the most obvious choice because Jake would have too many votes on the jury if they let him stick around.

The Jury members do clean up well.

I wonder if Helen normally talks to her husband the way she talked to him during the reward challenge... if so i wonder how they stayed married for so long.

Damn, I liked Jake. I was really hoping that they would shock Clay and vote his egomaniacal hick ass out, but it was pretty obvious they wouldn't since the editing tried to make it look like they would.

Eating that squishy water roach would have been tough, man. *gag*

Judging from the way they were the rest of the day/night, I'd say that was just her anxiety about him losing coming through. I don't think she was being a bitch; I think she just REALLY wanted him to win.

I'd tend to agree, but damn...it was like she was talking to a dog or something.

No big surprise that Jake got the boot, but how booooring!!! I was unhappy about the non-merge thing and how that tribe was destined to lose.
Clay and Jan are coasting big time!!! Brian things he's the best thing that has ever happened to Survivor. Ted's voice just gets on my last nerve. I don't like Helen much more than anyone else. But she is the only one I see semi-worthy of taking the money.
If I miss any of the episodes including the finale I won't lose any sleep. YAWN!

I hate that hillbilly also, but it only makes sense you'ld keep him with you until the final two. I can't imagine anyone would vote for him.

Lame episode.

Unless they are final 2, I don't think Clay or Jan have a chance. I doubt that Ted would win unless he is a final with the aforementioned. I think the favorites have to be Brian and Helen.

There was just no way the guys of were going to boot off Clay over Jake, and the women should have allied themselves with Jake to get to the final 3 (unless Clay/Brian/Ted won immunity).

If Clay were to get the boot, that gives Helen/Jan/Jake a numerical advantage over Ted/Brian (the "stronger" players). If the women really think Brian/Ted is going to take them to the finals, they are in denial.

They should get together and vote off clay next week, then the old lady after that.

Then I see about an equa' chance of each winning in the finals. I think Ted would win against either in the end though, because Brian obviously is doing well, and has a hot wife.. Jealousy is enough to not get the votes. Helen would lose, because clay and all the men want to strangle her for all that constant talk about recipes etc.

I knew I wasn't the only one who liked watching attractive women eat insects. There was this one episode of Fear Factor that had 2 hotties eating a bunch of slugs that was also excellent.

Other than that this was a lame episode of Survivor because you already knew who was going to get voted off and the reaction to the family members reminded me of The Jerry Springer Show more than anything else. I mean a month really isn't that long to not see someone.

I think brian wants to be in the final 3 with ted and clay because he thinks more people will vote for him than them. He would have a much better chance in the final 2 with clay than with either of the remaining women.

I really liked the twist of having the loved ones performing the challenge. It was different anyway. It was obvious to see that Jake was a goner, but I guess to add some suspense they had the whole Clay discussion. I hate Clay...damn hillbilly.

Clay is an idiotic, dumb, moronic, backwards-ass, arrogant, chauvanistic hillbilly.

Agree, but he sure is funny. My personal fav is when he rips on that old lady, like when she got the money in the mail and just kept yelling we're rich. His looks at her were priceless.

That's interesting. I don't think he's funny at all, just pathetic.

I laugh my head off at pathetic people, though.

I made my own voice-over when Helen hugged her husband after he won the nasty-eating contest:

"Honey, you NEVER have an excuse not to go down on me ever again!"

Three teams of 5 (or 6) at the start could REALLY help Survivor. The last 4 shows have been way too predictable. With three teams, you'd see a ton of deals, back-stabbings, etc. It would be great.

In the previews it showed Ted drawing in the dirt with a stick... he was sitting with Helen, and this is what he drew.
