Everyone was talking about getting one of those floating skateboards? I was pretty young when it came out, but I remember my peers talking about how parents wouldn't let it happen because of the risks of a floating skateboard, especially since it couldn't go on water. I beleived them at the time... stupid, gullible , me!!! :)

Btw, gullible isn't in the dictionary.

I remember that...I remember people telling me they were gonna get one. I asked my parents and they told me it was too expensive. Odd, huh?

I know that some kid wrote in and asked about buying the hoverboards in the Kirk Cameron-hosted special "Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy" that is fortunately, included on the DVD.

And as I pointed out here:

Now they're giving 'em away...

As I recall, I fell for this urban legand hook, line, and sinker, because Zemekis himself started it. On a behind the scenes special on NBC, before the release of Part II, he claimed that the boards were real and that "safety groups" or some such organization were keeping them off the market. In hindsight I'm not sure what he stood to gain by decieving the public.

Does anyone else recall this hoax? I think it caused a lot of people to go out and try to buy one.

Well, Kirk Cameron's answer did say that Zemeckis was joking, because the question specifically cited a supposed comment by Zemeckis saying they would be for sale.

Everytime I click that link to find the Hoverboard give away, I can't find it.

Do I have to buy BTTF from them to be entered? If so, isn't that against the law?

I think so and I think so. I was disappointed by it too. I wanted a hoverboard but I'm not going to buy from Buy just because of that. :(

Yeah i fell for this too.

Parents didnt want kids getting hurt on them or that they were too expensive.

Then i came to the conclusion that if this technology exsisted that it would be used on something else besides skateboards...like military weapons or something.

as for them not actually exsisting well......

I can't help but laugh at some of the stuff on this site.

One Grand Prize Winner will receive a state of the art Hover Board just like the one from the movie.

What's that all about?
