Region Free DVD Question

I want to buy a region free dvd player. Should I buy a dvd player that can be easily hacked using the remote or buy one that has already been made region free by someone else?

I know Malata is a brand that most people buy or the Apex player. I don't plan on buying a lot of Region 2 or 3 dvd's, but I want a player that won't quit on me after a few months. There are so many brands on the market that I don't know which one to buy.

Will those of you that have a region free player compare the remote hacked ones to the already hacked ones?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll be curious to know what models of the Apex dvd players can be hacked. I keep seeing tons of Apex models for less than 100 and so I may ty to get one, if its for the right price and can be hacked easilly. Which models can be hacked or changed?

I don't really know. I've just seen mention of people hacking the Apex.

The cyberhome 500 player at best buy this week does pal to ntsc conversions, and can be remote hacked, is progressive scan, and is 80 bucks at best buy. I just bought mine and its great... (better than my panasonic rv31)

Thanks. I found that nerd-out.com site late yesterday. I have a Magnavox dvd player I recently bought and thought I might be able to remote hack it. I found this other site that had a hack for a Magnavox, but it was a different model number.

I'll check out the Cyberhome player. Thanks.

Do check out the Cyberhome but also read up on it on nerd-out.com and also here in this forum as well as the international forum.
