DVD connection to receiver?

DVD connection to receiver?
A friend of mine has a Technics SA-GX470 receiver that has Video 1 connection used for a VCR and Video 2 connection open. The video from the VCR is fed through the receiver and then to the TV (the receiver has an RCA composite video out).
Here's a question: my friend wants to connect a DVD player through the receiver through the Video 2 connection (it should be noted the TV only has one video input in addition to the antenna input). Will this affect picture quality, especially with Macrovision enabled? I believe that Macrovision kicks in if you feed the video out from a DVD player through another VCR, but through an A/V stereo receiver it's an unknown.

I am not fimaliar with the US Marcovision, but only option here is
that your friend need a splitter for this connection. The splitter is a
two way connector where you plug into the only TV input allowing
a two video connection from Receiver or direct from player source.
I have a TV with only one video input same as your friend. I solve the problem by using two splitters for my LD,DVD and VCD players
direct connection to TV input and I can say have never suffered
poor picture quality thru this linked up. I had always preferred a
direct connection from player source to TV input and not thru the
Receiver's video output as I beleived that going thru the Receiver
would cause the video image to suffer.
Most people preferred connection via Receiver to TV as an easy
way to access the on screen menu.

It all depends on the rate at which the receiver can put out video signals. If it's 27mHz or above, then it shouldn't be a problem. Macrovision shouldn't be a problem either. Marcovision is something that is decoded through the receiving machine - hence why you can't record most dvd's to vhs when connected through the VCR to the tv. However, a receiver is by nature the center of your home theater, so the receiver doesn't decode it for display, it merely passes the signal through to the TV.
If Macrovision affected the signal to the receiver, there would be plenty of people out there pissed, believe me.
