bananas act like an oil slick, I think
no turbo, except if you pick up a power-up

Bananas increase your speed slightly for each one you grab (similiar to the coins in Mario Kart). There's a limit of 10.

There is no turbo button. You have to collect blue balloons or run over the little strips with arrows.

1. bannas are like coins in mario kart
2. if you LET OFF the gas before one of those "trubo" arrows on the track, you will get a MUCH faster boast from the arrow. sounds odd, i know, but it works real good.

3. i am not sure, but is there a power slide like in mario N64 when you slide around turns, and wiggle the joystick left and right? there might be, but i cant remember.

Is Mario Kart kind of the same? I never played it. What I loved about Diddy Kong was the great race locations and... geez, just the overall gameplay. That game ruled.

I still say Mario rules the genre of silly kart racing.

mario kart 64 was significantly better in my estimation, but i admittedly haven't gotten that deep into diddy kong.

I'm in the minority on this, but I greatly preferred Diddy Kong Racing to Mario Kart. There's a lot of variety between the different tracks, and it's great having three different kinds of vehicles to race with. Plus, I really enjoyed the single-player "quest" mode.

Rare's Donkey Kong Racing, which was planned and scrapped for the Gamecube looked promising. It was not a kart racer, instead you raced on the backs of different animals. I'm hoping that they port it to the Xbox using their characters (like Conker and Banjo), since they can't use the Kong theme anymore.
