Props to Samsung
I was never a big fan of their electronics. They had great prices, but I always felt their products were compromised by cheap build quality. I have to say, they have worked hard in the past couple of years and have corrected many of their products' past shortcomings. I was just checking out their new stuff at Best Buy last weekend, and I must say, they are coming out a with an entirely new level of quality stuff. The specs on their HDTV sets and DVD players are on par with the best of Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic. Plus, subjectively speaking, the picture quality on their TV sets appear outstanding (and that's without calibration!). Not to mention, they're quite stylish looking. AND they've kept their costs down. I'm looking into TV set options in the next year and I will definitely be looking a lot harder at their sets. I'm hoping they're working on a projector, as I have recently become more interested in getting one of these.

I got to say, of the DVD players I've seen, I'm most looking forward to the Samsung DVD-HD1000.

I have to agree. Ive owned a Samsung DVD-611, a nice intro dvd player for over 2 years now without a glitch. the TV I bought at the same time, a 27 in Sharp, blew up yesterday. Samsung will probly get my buisness again, especialy with sub-$1000.00 HD-ready tv's.

I had to do some repairs on my samsung TV (hit by lightning - had to replace a couple of parts). It's a couple years old, 27". The circuit board was just like every other brand's board. Nothing more nothing less.
