PS2 No macrovision??
HI all
I just realized my PS2 is hooked up to my VCR and I have no problem playing DVDs on the PS2 (no macrovision effect at all). I recorded a few DVD for testing purposes and no problem.
PS2 has no macrovision protection??

Macrovision does kick in on mine. The picture fades from bright to dark costantly like it should. My PS2 is from launch day, and I doubt they would remove it, so I'm guessing your VCR is allowing it to pass through.

I had the same question awhile back. Mine doesn't show any effects of macrovision either. Gots to love that. A good reason for dvd to vhs is to watch movies on tvs that don't have a dvd player. We've got 3 tvs in my house, but only 2 dvd players. Having a vhs gives you that liberty.

There are some VCR's that do not have AGP while others will not activate AGP in lower quality recording modes. I have a Sony that will not react to Macrovision if the recording speed is EP. Once it's switched to SP (even if you're not recording) the Macrovision effects kick in.
