Would you watch a Joey spin-off?

Since Friends is winding down, and this is supposed to be their final season, I have a simple question to ask: Would you watch a "Joey" spin-off?

Conceivably, the spin-off would be similar to Fraiser with (I would imagine) Joey moving to the West Coast to act on a television show/motion picture. Assuming that they could create a good enough ensemble cast to go along with Joey, and kept his jokes as good as they are now, this show could be a hit.

And a second question, since the show would be about Joey, do you think his character would serve well as a main character?

Probably just the pilot.....
Like the micheal richard show
or the Bob peterson show (Jason alexander)
or the (Julia loui-dryfuess) spin-off

I Just watch the pilot but then can't stand it anymore

Nope. As funny as he is, his appeal is lost without his co-stars. His jokes wouldn't be funny without a character like Ross or Chandler to aim them at.

I'd probably watch a few episodes out of sheer curiosity, but I cannot imagine him being able to carry a series with that character. Sadly, he may be typecast by now, though, since he hasn't really done much else beyond that character.

I haven't watched the final season of Friends since Survivor has been so good and I know that I can catch it either during summer reruns or in syndication.

I'll probably watch the Joey spin-off, but am not holding out much hope that it will be a good show. Of course, that's what I thought about Frasier and I was a loyal viewer for about five or six seasons.

Of course, I also watched After MASH (no, I'm not that old I watched it as a kid) and The Tortellis also, so you can't really judge by my taste.

It's funny that you say that, because a lot of critics say he's done the best job of the male friends to fight typecasting. I just that comment by the critics was weird since it was made around the same time as Charlie's Angels where he played, of all things, an actor.

I'm really surprised at the raves that Jennifer Aniston has been getting for her movie career, though. She's taken supporting roles and independent movie parts (has anyone actually seen "The Good Girl"?) more than anything, though she has was in one of the greatest movies of all time: "Office Space"!!

You should read all replies before you post, evitagen already made this fairly obvious joke.

As for Joey Tribbiani, I would not like to see the character spun off and probably would not watch.

Honk!

It worked for frasier, with good writers, I'm sure it would be an entertaining show.

Would I watch it... Maybe.

While it worked for Frasier, I don't think you can compare "Cheers" to "Friends". They are different shows, and "Friends" is pretty much dumbed down, and it's not the most consistent show. "Cheers", on the other hand, was pretty consistent with show quality.

And it's interesting to note how Frasier wasn't even a member of the original cast of "Cheers", and yet the show is pretty successful. That would sort of be like Janice getting her own TV series. Would never work, though. Who would watch?

Wouldn't work unless there was at least one friend along for the ride...and even then it would be a stretch. Much of what has made Joey into the funniest character is his relationship with all the others...and that would be lost with a spin-off. I'd watch out of curiousity, but would fully expect a quick demise. Which means it'll probably happen

Yes, I'd watch. Joey provides a steady stream of laughs on this show...something that the other cast members don't do.

While he's the funniest character on the show, most spin-offs blow. 10-1 if they did such a show it would be about him moving to Los Angeles to become a film actor, and feature the usual supporting cast of "wacky" characters.

Didn't he already get his own spin-off show from Married With Children way back in the day? Or am I thinking of someone else.

It's been a while since I've seen a good sitcom spinoff... Frasier was the last one, I think. Which is weird, because back in the 70s/80s, TV was rife with them (For the longest time, I didn't even know the Jeffersons was a spinoff...)

I do think that Matt Leblanc has been more funny this year than maybe any year before. He has had a great season late last year and kept up that quality into this year. I really enjoy watching him this year especially because they seem to have taken alot away from Chandler who I always thought was the funniest part of the show.

As far as a spin off I don't think it could be done with the same quality.

Sorry if this seems off-topic, but while we are discussing Frasier, wouldn't it be weird if it gave rise to a spin-off involving say, Roz? Then it would be literally a grand-child of "Cheers". And that could spin-off a show and it could go on forever.

Yup. Top Of The Heap in 1991, renamed and retooled as Vinnie & Bobby in 1992.

Joey's a very cool character.. but he's nothing without the rest of the cast.
