We'll it's in it's testing phase, but the new Video Game Review server is up in beta :)
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/games/index.php
we'll be bringing on a number of new game reviewers in the next few weeks and start ramping up very soon.
in addition to ps2 and xbox there WILL be PC and GameCube reviews.

I've always enjoyed Aaron Beierle's dvd reviews and it looks like he has a good handle on how to do a video game review.
Does this guy ever sleep? He is a review machine.

This is great news. I like to get all my information from one spot. Now all I need is DVDTalk - Stock quotes and DVDTalk - Sports Updates.

Britney's Dance Beat :D
must have bought that one for the gameplay ;)
it looks good. I do like the format.
I bet a few people here might be interested in doing reviews.

My thoughts:
I think breaking each category into a 1-100 rating scale is a bit much, as it's very unlikely that consistency will be maintained (e.g., that a game with a 8.1 graphics rating is always going to look better than a 7.9)
The "Plot" category doesn't work for many games (sports, puzzles, etc). And in many other games, plot doesn't really matter. I think "Immersion" (or a less fruity word) would be better...something that more describes how engrossing the game is.
A 100 hour RPG may have no "Replay" but a ton of "Value." I think the latter classification is more useful.

Ditto on the reviewing tip. I assume like DVDs you're open to multiple reviews on the same game?
Also, I don't know about everyone else, but I like pretty graphics (like the star system) better than numbers.

I like numbers better, but perhaps a graphic representation of the numbers would be appropriate.

I prefer ratings like 5 out of 5 stars.. something less specific than 8.5 or 3.6 or whatever.. Then you have a game that maybe doesn't do well in certain categories, and ends up with a low average(say 7.9).. but maybe overall is a better game than one that scores 8.2 overall. I prefer to be ambiguous in final ratings so people get a general idea, but don't just compare scores to decide which game is better.
I agree with Aghama's other suggestions as well.

If you are interested in reviewing games please send the following to talk@dvdtalk.com
1) A list of platforms you can review on
2) Your video game setup (ie what you use to display them video/audio)
3) A sample game review
Since we're just starting we'll be adding people to the video game panel slowly, so bear with us.
Also as with DVDs we're completely open to more than 1 reviewer covering a title and also like our DVD reviews YOU WON'T HAVE TO JOIN A FRIGGING PREMIUM CLUB to read them :)

Geoff,
Will your reviewers be getting video games to review before their release date?

We'll see. I'm working right now to establish relationships with game companies and pr firms.
It's a slow process, but we've been through it before with movie companies so I am sure we'll ramp up in the same way.
A note to all who are sending in samples. I am really trying to give each one my full time and attention, so be patient if it takes a little while to get back to you. I WILL respond one way or another to let you know if a) you've been selected b) you haven't or c) You might be selected in the near future

Ah, one more thing I would like to see in the reviews is the MSRP and the Publisher/Developer. Sometimes I can be biased by a particular developer, and shrug off somewhat negative reviews.
