XBOX: Should I Get MGS2 or Wait for Splinter Cell or Get Both?
I know the games are somewhat different but they are both stealth based and I'll probably end up giving only one of them my time.
I really want to get Metal Gear Solid 2 - Substance but I know once Splinter Cell is released I'm afraid I won't play much of MGS2.
What are you guys doing? I would imagine many gamers who own both the PS2 and XBOX won't bother with MGS2 since they probably have PS2 MGS and MGS2 SOL already.
Hmmm, what to do? I'll probably just rent MGS2.

MGS2 = poop... Substance might be cool though with all the extra goodies. Still - I'd wait for the price to drop and pick up Splinter Cell since it's way better.

I know.......
My Choice:
Splinter Cell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have anything against MGS2 but I'll just wait when it hits the bargain bin.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was lame for PS2. I want to play a game not watch a movie that makes no sense at all. The VR missions sound cool though. I wouldn't get it for $50 though.
Get Splinter Cell!

I would say to go out and get Splinter Cell. I really liked MGS2, but I have a feeling you will feel more in control with Splinter Cell.
I know many people who disliked MGS2 because of the amount of movies in the game and the way out there storyline (if you go far enough into codec talks you may not be happy to find out some things, such as...)
Spoiler:
That's just one of many things you can learn going deep into the codecs. The ending is confusing if you're not into thinking philosophically. The very end is awesome though...but maybe that is just me.

It's true that I didn't like MGS2 overall, but the gameplay was good (what little there was of it)... The reason I think Splinter Cell is way better is because of my experience with it at E3 - I haven't played the demo yet... I came away from E3 with that at the top of my list of best looking games.

From GameSpot:
Does not sound too promising. I saw it yesterday and waited for some reviews to come in, in hopes they would have really made this a technical stand-out on the Xbox. Now I'm totally steering clear.
C'mon Splinter Cell, do not disappoint!!!

Essentially a straight port of last year's highly acclaimed PlayStation 2 version of Metal Gear Solid 2, Substance also has some notable extras, as well as a few apparent shortcomings that we were quick to identify. Most notably, we witnessed some extreme amounts of slowdown during the game's rain-soaked oil tanker area (the very first area of the game), in places where last year's PlayStation 2 version of the game ran perfectly smoothly. Considering the Xbox hardware should be able to easily handle now what the PlayStation 2 was capable of a year ago, these performance issues seem very strange.
Beyond that, the core of Substance is a straight port of Metal Gear Solid 2, and, notwithstanding the technical problems, it looks and plays exactly the same as last year's game. Substance also adds five different "Snake Tails," brief side stories starring the popular Solid Snake. These all take place in environments lifted straight from Metal Gear Solid 2, but they lack the same production values, as there is no new voice-over or cinematic cutscenes to go with these sequences. Rather, the Snake Tails are introduced with pages of onscreen text.
