i actaully enjoyed this a little more than the de palma version. but i do got a major question about that ending. in the book, does carrie die or is it just like this version where the black girl decides to hide her and take her to florida?

I'm sure the ending was adapted so that the movie, if successful, could be expanded into a television series... hence the "flashback" style used to tell it.

Quick answer for Rypro: She dies in the end of the book. Stephen King has always said that he wanted her to live so I am sure he had a hand in the new ending (which I hated).

was i the only one who also enjoyed some of the 90's style jokes more . also question, was the girl who ends up saveing carrie at the end, was she black in the book since i know she was white in the depalma verison. and did stephen originaly approve of depalmas version or did he have the same kind of problem like with the shining. with the exception of the cheap looking cgi during the blood scene, i kind of enjoyed this more. i mean travolta was just a little annoying.

just to let you all know, the original verison comes on tnt tonight at 9 pm. the only edits i can think of is when billy calls chris chicken ****, the nudity in the shower, and maybe some blood at the end.
