Any cover that is under 150dpi is not really fit for quality printing. So please use you own discretion before printing out any cover!

Feel free to post cover requests and links to other covers in this thread.

Hey Jason, a little thought about your Batman covers. Why not make the titles (on the front) of each one match the symbol color instaed of having them be the clear shadowy way? What I mean is like
Batman - GOLD
Batman Returns - WHITE
Batman Forever - GREEN
Batman & Robin - RED

I finished up my Nikita cover.

http://www.bizrodian.homestead.com/files/nikitasm.jpg

The full sized version I have no where to upload... but for a short period of time, I'm on Kazaa. The cover is zipped up (so I can include a text document with it...) and the filename is [dvdcs]nikita.zip

If someone wants to host it on a site, feel free.

BTW, the file size right now is HUGE because I have it as a bmp. I'm going to change it later, but right now I'm going to get some sleep.

Also, I don't know how it looks printed off, because my color cartrage is out of ink right now...

I've shrunk the file size of my cover now BTW. I't s a jpeg now. Blah! but I still have the bmp if anyone wants it.

If anyone can't get the cover off of kazaa, I can send it via ICQ or Yahoo IM. No email or AIM though I'm afraid.

Brad Brad, I'm also interested in the Godfather customs (single amarays preferably). Could you email them to me at jp@runbox.com? My limit is 20mb per email so depending on how large the files are you may need to split them up into 2 emails. Thanks.

IF you could, send them to dmras@chm.net. I believe I only need them for the single amaray. Thank you so much!

Has anyone created a custom cover for the X-Files Movie, Fight the Future. I'm thinking of something that would match the cover art of the season box sets.

What do you guys think of this?
I like, I like. I actually have that poster. I was hoping someone would create a custom cover for Spider-Man. Don't like the Widescreen (crawling-up-the-wall) shot. Prefer the Full Screen (swinging) cover. But if someone actually did a cover from the limited edition box (flagpole shot), then I'd be really happy. :D

Also, I prefer the back you created than the original back.

Music, 1 opinion for your custom Spidey cover. Any way you could make the title match in with the poster? Maybe just get rid of the black around it or replace it with red so it matches the Widescreen banner

edit: If the original poster is the way I remember it you could just use it as is and leave the Spider-Man title on the bottom and just add the WS-SE banner to the top. Of course that's just my opinion and i'm sure others will be happy the way it is.

A lot of people prefer to keep the UPC and all other company images, logos etc to make it look more official.

It completes the cover and takes away any distraction one would get from not seeing those normal items.

Jax, I normally will remove them when I make jewel cases for my computer games, but I know a lot of people use the UPC for DVD Profiler so I leave it on.

I must give credit to Chris Y. (Darthvong) for the Halloween cover because it is composed of various elements from several of his covers. Since I only have the first two Halloween films in my collection I decided to box them together. <center><img src=http://home.earthlink.net/~jkelley11/johnf14/12carpenter.jpg><center>And here they are all in a row!<center><img src=http://home.earthlink.net/~jkelley11/johnf14/12carpenterow.jpg>

My new personal DVD Cover's site is finally up and running after spending a couple of weeks learning the fun of web development. It is available at www.dvdgreek.com (http://www.dvdgreek.com) . It currently just has my Fifth Element , Starship Troopers, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels covers. I'll be uploading more shortly (and redoing the Fifth Element ones with a custom back cover).

A couple things that I did differently than the other sites out there is that I'm limiting downloads to once per day and require an account to be able to download anything. This may be a little much, but it should help keep excessive bandwidth from being used. I'd also be willing to host a limited/rotating set of covers for other users. Please give me any feedback on the site as its my first web project and I'm sure there are some bugs with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unfortunatly Carpenter did not direct it. Tommy Lee Wallace (Halloween III) wrote and directed. But I think Carpenter was the executive producer. And the film also carries the "John Carpenter Presents" tag line.

No... not at all.... Venom has a different emblem, the legs are different, more angles and point straight down - also thicker design. This is from Spider-Man's best costume - the black alien symbiote.

This series would make an awesome movie! (hint, hint) ;)

Bob_Bobbson
11-09-02, 10:11 PM
While I do Agree with you, realize that your spider-man example is not the best, since it comes from a customized action figure.(Which looks like a modified Animated series batman figure, btw)
The thing is, the symbiote costume is the same between the two, Spidey and venom, so it seems logical that the symbol would be the same. Also since Spidey wore that costume for such a short period of time, when I see it I think Venom. :o

Anyway, I printed one of your covers, the one with the front, back, and spine all the one picture of spidey looking over the city.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. Sorry I got carried away, but I love to talk about comics. :D

About the figure - I know, but it was the best image I could find with Spider-Man wearing it (First appearance was Secret Wars - I think issue 7 - I have those, at least 7,8 and 9 anyways.) :)

That cover was actually done by Joeyohhhh, I am just hosting it for him, but the others are mine. :o

The more I look at thet Symbiote cover, the more I like it. But for some reason having that on the front of my DVD when spidey in the movie wears his r&b costume doesn't seem rignt.

*Note: I heard a rumor that Venom may appear in Spider-Man 3, but that is highly unlikely.

Also, on another topic, anyone who is less fortunate (like me) I have modified the Bmw film's The Hire cover posted by Sebastian (in part 12) to be "The Follow"-less If you want it, I'll post it.

I had an idea to "fix" the horrible E.T. 2-disk packaging. As flimsy as it is, the REAL problem is that it won't stay closed.

Rather than try and replace the case, what I want to try to do is make a slipcover for it.

Step 1: Measure the dimensions of the existing piece of crap as exactly as possible. Pressing it together, but not too tightly.

Step 2: Next, I'll fudge a few extra millimeters to allow the creation of "fold points", and also leave some room to overlap on the final fold a bit and create a flap to glue.

Step 3: Then I'll take some thin cardboard or some thick stock paper and fold to the dimensions I figured out in step 2.

Step 4: Next, I'll scan the outside artwork (unless someone here already HAS a good high-res scan) and then print some nice cover art based on the original box-art on photo paper--measured to fit on the front and side panels of the slipcover I create. If I wind up using thick paper for Step 3 instead of cardboard I may print directly on it instead.

Has anyone tried anything like this yet? The side-benefit is that this leaves the original packaging completely intact.

BizRodian
11-10-02, 04:05 AM
jhlurie, that's actually a good idea. That case would have been nice if it did have a slip case over it. If you do make one, I suggest that you use the finger touching poster for the front slip cover. Then when you open you have a the moon one.

Well, it was hard. I found no real good quality pictures of the original poster art. This one I found on some french cover... luckily they still call it Gremlins ;) I had to almost double the size of the "Gremlins" title, as it was really tiny on the original.

Thing is, I don't really LIKE the original poster art... but it's the best poster out there. Better then the Gremlins 2 Gizmo and Stripe's shadow... and better then the Gremlin bursting through the original poster too...

The back I redid completly... using pictures from the original disc's back cover. I think it looks pretty nice anyways.. the only thing I'm not too sure on is the Special Edition banner... but I tried a lot of different things, and that looked best...

I might do Gremlins 2 sometime, but I can't think of too many ways I can improve that one.

The exact measurements of the ET 2-disk package are 5 1/2' x 7 3/8" x 3/4" inch high (14cm x 18.7cm x 1.5cm).

Figuring that the "height" measurement is actually equivalent to two folded over flaps (if this is a slipcover open on the top and bottom and closed on the sides), and that the whole thing can be secured by an extra 3/4" flap which folds over onto the back portion.

All I need to do is locate an appropriate piece of light cardboard or heavy paper which is 12 1/4" long and 7 3/8" tall, and fold along the length at the 3/4" point, the 6 1/4" point, and the 7" point.

So now I actually have to do it. :-)

Concievably I could also do this with two pieces glued together instead of a single piece. Two identical pieces--7" long and 7 3/8" tall--folded at the 3/4" point and the 6 1/4" point along the length (but with no extra flap). The two side panels can be glued to overlap each other.

Nope. I made those TCM DVD Covers over a year ago for myself.

Your TCM1 covers look totally cool.

I'd like to see a cover made of that TCM2 poster.

I have the German region 2 TCM3 DVD (don't buy because it's junk quality), so made a cover for it based on the NTSC VHS.

I'm looking for a high-quality scan of the UK DVD cover of TCM4 (see below), which has Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey in red - I consider that the best cover image by far.

That's a lot of Disney titles! Lots of work for you, and much printer ink for us.

Unless you stuck to the theatrical features, and ignored the direct to video sequels. It would be nice if you used the original poster artwork for each one, to add a feeling of nostalgia.

From AFI.com:
"The list is the centerpiece of AFI's historic celebration of the first 100 years of American movies."

So I guess it would be a collection of the best 100 movies from 100 years. :)
