By 8 PM? Nah. Even the late-ending games are usually over (and post-game over) by 7:45

If I'm sitting at the TV promptly at 8PM waiting for it to start, then yes, The Simpsons will be pre-empted.

If I'm stuck helping the little guys out with something, lose track of time, and I get to the TV well after 8PM, then no, The Simpsons will start right on time.

Happens every Sunday......

On the bright side, tonight's Sopranos is already up on p2p and I've got it sitting on my HDD, so at least I've got that going for me tonight.....

Don't tell me it might be pre-empted. I could have watched it on a local affiliate an hour ago, and I waited until later. Fortunately, I can pick it up later tonight on a different affiliate.

Fortunately, being on the West Coast means the Fox prime-time schedule won't get pre-empted due to NFL game overruns. I'll see the show at the usual start times.
