Godzilla : Destroy All Monsters

This could be one of the best "Button mashing" fighting games I've ever played.

The initial monster selection is weak, but after you begin unlocking them , it's crazy.

The cities are so detailed, it's like Rampage with an opponent.

This game is fun. I actually enjoyed War of the monsters for the PS2 a bit more at E3

Hmm.

WotM seems pretty cool indeed.

May have to check that one out as well.

Godzilla: DAMM is a fun button masher. The battles are great and I love when your fighting and the buildings begin to crumble all around you and a huge dust cloud fills the screen!

The little touches are great as well. Like the smog monster flying around, the Mothra attack power-up, the funny "feet on fire" animations, the humans launching missiles and trying to freeze you. Fantastic!

The sound effects also rock in this game. I don't know what it is, but there is something really cool hearing the roars of the monsters. Especially Godzilla and my all-time favorite monster, King Ghidorah!

I would love to see a sequel with even more monsters, moves, and different play modes.

WotM looks pretty cool, except most the monsters are fairly generic.

I'll probably pick up Godzilla when it hits the bargain bins, I have too damn many multiplayer games that get little play as it is.

the monsters look generic but the game was fun

I heard a rumor that Godzilla is coming to the PS2 with an added monster

At E3 they confirmed that after XMas they would release a version on the PS2(march- may they guessed at that time). They said at that time no XBox version was planned. Someone I know mentioned they are adding a monster to the PS2 version.

I wonder which one they are going to add?

This game is hilarious! There's so much destruction in it. I didn't know what i was doing when i played it but i figured out how to fire godzilla's breath. That and throwing the monsters into the buildings and watching the city crumble. rock!

That's exactly what I was doing at first too

Mecha Godzilla is a cheating bastard, and so is Destroyah.

I've only managed to beat them once and that was with Megalon who can tunnel underground and come up right underneath you.

So I've only got 4 monsters to choose from so far I need more!

I was having a hard time when I first got the game, but after a while I got the hang of it. The monsters are quite cheap at times. As for Megalon's underground move, just jump out of the way when he's about to come up, after which he'll be dizzy for a moment or two. I don't mind unlocking fighters, but when I spend $50 on a game I expect more than three selectable characters. If you don't feel like unlocking everything, go to Game FAQs for the cheat codes. While I have not played four player mode yet (I have very few friends. ), the game did keep me intrigued for about a week or so. I can't wait for the sequel (hopefully). It's amazing that a Japanese publisher never came up with a good 3-D Godzilla beat-em-up. Those DC games were pretty bad.

Yeah I used those cheat codes the first time I played. I got a decent deal on this game ($35 new from the Exchange forum) and I Just wanted to make sure I really liked the roster before committing my time toi unlock em all. I really liked playing with some of the unlockable monsters, so I'll be playing to do that.

THe monsters ARE quite cheap, so IMHO, I'm cheap right back at the CPU.

2 Player is a blast, haven't done anything past that yet.

As for your "3 fighters isnt' enough" I tend to agree. But there aren't that many monsters in it to begin with, and they needed to give the 1 player mode replay

Back in the day we were satisfied with ten selectable characters. And to have just one hidden character was extra-special. Today's gamers are spoiled.

Basically yes.

but looking at a couple of "fan boards" there are only like 3 monsters that "should" have been included. Gotta leave something for a sequel I guess.

Well

3 days into the game.

Still having a damn blast.

I don't like how "cheap" the computer is, but I'll deal.

I'm only missing MechaGodzilla, Rodan, and Orga for the roster yet. *sigh*

I wish this had more "rampage" style in it, but it's still a heap of fun.

I just went on a 5 monster tear thru the game, winning each time with only 1 continue. Mecha King Ghidorah is great, as is Gigan.

I really want to get Rodan, but I didn't have the patience tonite. 2 hours in a row was enough.

Rumored to be a Cube exclusive. The sequel may go multiplatform though

Could somebody give me a link to the FAQ site?

Also, at what level do you have to play to see Hedorah flying around?

Here you go from GameFaqs...

Godzilla DAMM:
FAQs & Guides page

Codes & Secrets page

As for Hedorah the smog monster, I believe it appears randomly on any of the stages.

I've seen the smog monster on 2 different levels. It's random.

Played this last night. Great fun. For fans of Godzilla its a god send. General gamers will likely enjoy it as well. Nice game.

Not according to the developer at E3. In fact they are working on the port to the PS2 right now and adding a monster.

This was a time exclusive only and the port to the PS2 will happen sometime next year. I expect then to announce it after XMas- I figure a March or April release for the PS2.

Now the XBox is more uncertain since at E3 I was told that was not in the works at that time. I would hope they would release it on all three however that is not a sure thing at all.

gcribbs:

cool I suppose. And actualy, the developer was very noncommittal either way on his plans of porting it around.

The only thing that worries me about PS2 versions, are, the Cube's controller is perfect for the game...and it can handle 4 players..the PS2 can't w/o the tap
