Zu warriors: Am I the only one that hated it?

That acclaimed movie was a piece of crap. The story line made no sense and it was so choppy. After a while, the graphics got boring and you could only take so much of shiny swords shooting at each other. Barely any fighting at all. Half the time, you can't figure out what weapon is called what, who is who, and what role certain characters have. Not to mention, there's no character development at all, ie. the romance between that soldier girl and that other guy.

On top of that, the english translation sucks on the DVD cause I can speak mandarin. I didn't even watch the last 15 min of that crap. Invited friends over and we were like uh...after giving it well over an hour of viewing time. Damn, what a waste of time and money. Going straight to ebay

No - alot of people hated it. The US version is even worse. At best, most people agree that it's visually stimulating, but the story is weak. I kinda liked it, but I recognize it as being a sucky film. Tsui Hark is one of my favorite directors too... I expected better.

This movie is the reason why I don't make blind buys on asian movies anymore. It sure fooled me. The movie had an all-star cast, Tsui Hark directing, and the most CG ever in a chinese film. I never made it past the first hour of the movie.

are you talking about Legend of Zu (the sequel) from 2001 or Zu: Warriors of the Magic Mountain (the original) from 1983? One is one of the great movies in HK cinema (the original) and the other sucks royally. I'm guessing you're talking about the sequel but...

The original Zu Warriors is "one of the greatest movies"?? I don't know what you guys see in this movie... sure, maybe it was an influential movie, but nowhere good... it's more goofy than anything... I didn't particularly liike it.

Legend Of Zu, I liked better, maybe because of the very cool effects designs. It was an epic scale Chinese mythical movie that was fun to watch...

But that's just me....

Legend of Zu was pure eye candy with a super cartoonish plot... I knew what I was getting into before I watched it, so I really enjoyed it. You just have to step down your intelligence a few levels and it's a lot of fun...

The current HK DVD seems to be missing large sections of dialogue unsubtitled in English... go figure?
