I'm sure opinions will vary.

I was using CuteFTP Pro 2 for their "30 day trial" it was ok.

I then got an outdated full version of CuteFTP Pro 1. It was pretty shitty. Kept disconnecting me and giving me all sorts of weird errors (trashed response received, child transfer failed).

so I switched.

I freaking love this thing

{This is probably going to be the first shareware I actually register!)

smartftp.

It's freeware. Simple, clean and gets the job done.

I use (and love) WS_FTP. And it's free:

I second WS_FTP.

WS_FTP is the standard FTP program, but it's really not that good. I have used Bulletproof and liked it well enough, but its not free.

I second the leechFTP recommendation. It's what I use when I'm not using an SSH FTP program.

Just use the command line FTP built into windows....

I use the command-line FTP that comes with Windows. Once I figured out that I had to use the "binary" mode for non-textual transfers, it worked a treat for any task that I could come up with.

I've been happy with Bulletproof FTP.

I use leechftp (for Windows) and ncftp (for Linux).

But most of time I just use a download manager, in which case I don't have to type any commands or click any buttons.

LeechFTP is great - free, easy to use. A must-have...
