Hey saw this tv @ bestbuy and fell in love w/it. I was just wondering, is this a top of the line HDTV? I know a Plasma tv is better but other than that is this the next step down?

Also there is another model for a 51" HDTV monitor by Sony and that one is an extra $100, just wondering what the difference is.

Is there a better way to go? I love Sony products so thats the only brand I'm interested in. Is it cool to play video games on this tv? Will it screw it up in any way?

Thanks For Your Help!

I hope it's a good choice! With 24 months no interest financing, I decided it (the s500) was worth taking the plunge on! Just from reading the description, the only difference for $100 is the option of using the TV speakers as the center channel. I think you can do this regardless, as it's more dependant upon your Tuner/receiver than the TV you buy.

Like you, I've found Sony (as well as Pioneer) to be extremely reliable, good quality, and have a long life.

After mine is delivered on Friday, I'll let you know how I feel :)

I own the KP-51HW40 and I am happy with it. The KP-51WS500 is this years model I believe.

when you go to Best Buy if you live in the West Coast you might want to mention that you are also going to look at The Good Guys since they have the Tv for the same price and they have $150 off the Tv (all from $2001-3000) instant coupon.

They also have a website www.goodguys.com maybe print it out and mention you were looking to buy it and wanted to see their price.

you might be able to get the price down a bit. My Best Buy gave me a bunch of Monster cables for free(SVideo,Component, audio) to get me to buy it from them. I did because I really wanted to use the Interest free money from them and I needed the cables anyway :)

heck even if you only get a free cable or a couple bucks off why not try it :)

Gcribbs,

how impressed are you with your picture quality? I just got mine today and I'm not too impressed. I hooked up monster component cables for my DVD player, and it looks subpar to me. Cable looks really, really bad (digital cable with s-video). I'm getting a digital cable box capable of HDTV tomorrow. I'm hoping that will help.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks,

Travis

it was that week only. now they are doing a digital camera coupon deal.

Travis Bickle:

I am very happy with mine. I would use the flash focus since it is possible that it needs to be done due to the move to your home :)

I would also use a demo disc like Video Essentials or any of the other ones out now :)

I am sure the TV needs to be adjusted since usually they ship Tv's with contrast too high among other incorrect settings.
