Any cover that is under 150dpi is not really fit for quality printing. So please use you own discretion before printing out any cover!

Feel free to post cover requests and links to other covers in this thread.

Here it is, as promised. The ultimate edition cover for the FOTR. Tthis is edition includes the two-disc theatrical release and the five-disc extended version from the gift set.

Here's some pictures of the finished set using the alpha seven-disc case. Below that is the link to the cover. Enjoy!

JJE-187, are you still looking for Das Boot? If so, I can email it to you. I have Manhunter as well (the single disc version). If you're interested, I'm working on a version with the original poster art (using the insert), but I also have the straight scan of the regular cover.

A couple of people on the DVDcoverart forum had requested European Vacation (, Dude Where's My Car?, and The Matrix Revisited covers. I finished them up and was about to send them in to Matt when the site suddenly went down. Anyway I still have them, so I thought I would offer them up here. Anyone interested, please email me (jp@runbox.com).

AskewedJunkie, your Fellowship of the Rings cover is truly a work of art. We'll be expecting parts II and III in the years to come...

I'm amazed at the rate we're posting on these cover art threads. In less than a month, we went from part VII to IX !

Anybody crack the code on the Grease cover with John and Olivia on the car?

Do not know if you guys & gals know of the following..

But they sell a "LASER FOIL"

Wich will add a foil shine to a printed project.

You use heat to transfer the "Foil" to the printed image.

This can be done using a "Laser Printer" or a number of other ways. (I have used a soldering iron in the past)

For more info check out : Paper Direct (http://www.paperdirect.com/PaperDirect_PF401/productDetail.asp?superprodid=2686)

Just think of how much better the 'LOR' cover that "AskewedJunkie" created would look with foil added to the cover and not just "Printed" gold/sliver inks.

Since this seems to be a cover and case thread, I'll add my two cents.

Was down in NY on the weekend and stopped in at a couple of the Dollar Tree stores and saw that they had Amaray 3-packs for $1.

Don't know about the spindle-type, but if you're looking for some cases you can do much worse. Immediate satisfaction is a nice bonus as well.

Thanks.

I've done one for Singin' In The Rain, and will do one for Unforgiven as soon as I get it from Columbia House unless someone does it before me.

Thanks.

I have them for Amadeus and Unforgiven - True Romance didn't scan well because of the front. If someone scans the front of the original release I can intergrate that with the back/spine from the new SE.

drop me an email with where you want me to send them and how big of an attachment I can send

I downloaded your LOTR cover but I am having problems printing it. Microsoft photo editor is telling me the dimensions of it are 0.73 by 0.43. This makes it the size of a postage stamp. What are the exact dimensions that it should be?

Could someone possibly do a keepcase version of A Perfect World? It normally comes in a snapper, and on top of that, my copy had a weird manufacturing error that resulted in one large security sticker being wrapped around the entire case! When I attempted to peel it off (veeeeery slowly) it still took little bits of the cover image with it here and there. :(

The store only had one copy and no one else in town got it, so I was stuck.

Randy, the exact dimensions should be:

Height 7.02 inches or roughly 184 mm

width 12.2 incher or roughly 312 mm

Hope this helps out and I am so happy everyone likes it..I worked at that thing till i almost screamed. I am also thinking of doing a second version for those who can't get a 7 disc case...trimming it to a 6 disc case. Also maybe replacing the National Geographic Disc with the Soundtrack? Any Suggestions?

I've had a few requests for this cover again recently, so I went ahead and put the cover back up. The link should work now - I'll try to leave it up for a while.

If anybody wants to take that cover and host it on their own site, please feel free. I have a limited amount of space, and can't guarantee it will always be there.

I'll be RE-DOING covers for Friday the 13th parts 1-4 with more-awesome screenshots on the back, and alternate poster artwork for part 3 (of Jason smashing through the window in red-blue 3-D!). You may also notice that the parts 1 and 2 covers have Pamela spoilers on them.

Nothing against DVDCoverArt.com, but why don't we all get together and pitch in to start a DVD cover site or contribute to an existing one? These threads are getting too big - too fast & it'd be good to have a specific site to go to for both new covers and archived covers.

Unless, ya'll want to keep up the feeling of brotherhood going on here with all the emailing and posting one cover as a time [due to limited server space].

Just a thought.

BTW...I haven't forgotten about the Grease cover.

It wasn't my fault! Really it wasn't! An old friend came in out of town! The car ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn't have enough money for cab fare! The tux didn't come back from the cleaners! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT I SWEAR TO GOD!!!

These are legit discs for which I need covers.

Did the baby drool all over the original theatrical artwork?

I'll be RE-DOING covers for Friday the 13th parts 1-4 with more-awesome screenshots on the back, and alternate poster artwork for part 3 (of Jason smashing through the window in red-blue 3-D!). You may also notice that the parts 1 and 2 covers have Pamela spoilers on them.

Yes they came with covers, I bought them used at the local Record Exchange the snap cases are somewhat worn so scanning them isn't going to work.
Sorry I asked.

BTW, I'd be all for "getting together and pitch in to start a DVD cover site" but if there's a way we could help DVDCoverart.com get up and running again, I'd rather do that instead.

Retracting my request for JFK. I went ahead and scanned it myself, ditched the big "Oliver Stone Collection" border, made the spine to match the style of WB's recent 2-disc releases, and fashioned a nice gatefold insert out of the remains of the old cardboard snapper. :D

Not to long ago, Matt was having problems with his site. Without his asking, a few of us gave a $5 through Paypal to help him out.
I don't disagree with a contributing site from all of us, but Matt did alot of work for us and I would like to help him out again.
Perhaps if we make a small donation on a regular basis we can use DVDCoverart as our contribution site and we will all be happy.

Just a thought.

Here's a new custom I'm working on. It'll fit a Slim Amaray Double. I can resize it to fit an Alpha double also. Once it's finished I'll post it on my site when it get's back up.
http://users.adelphia.net/~darthvong/sm6thvista.jpg
This one was tough. I had to use the original sleeve from the standard edition for the pics of Bruce and Haley. Then I had to blur, recolor, blend, add the logo. Now I have to add all the credits, extras, and the Vista Series header on the front and spine. The "breath" coming out of Bruces mouth I added using the airbrush tool.
I'm actually proud of this one so far.
Chris :)

I offered many times to give a little cash to Matt. I wasn't aware that he had a Paypal account otherwise I would just sent him a few bucks.
I still offer to help him out whenever I email him, I've tried located webhost that may suit his needs as well. Before I found Matt's site I really didn't know how many people made customs like I enjoyed doing.
I've since been working on getting my own cover site opened, not to take from away from Matt's at all. I think I've made that clear many times. Just so then I have a place to put my own covers and a few examples from other artists.
But I've never forgotten DVDCoverArt and I always praise the work Matt has done for all of us to be able to showcase our work.
If anything by storing my own 20+ covers I at least don't take up his room or bandwidth with my stuff.
His site will always be the best available.

I don't know if anybody has asked yet, but can anybody make a cover for the U.S. version of "Brotherhood of the Wolf" based on the Canadian version? I like the DVD, I just hate the cover. I guess it would be easier to use the art from the 1 disc instead of the 3 disc version. Or if anybody knows where I can get a hi-res pic of the poster art, I could even put one together myself. Please let me know if anybody can help. Thanks!!!!!!

No, i like the fancy packaging at times too. But when you have a full house as I do it helps to convert them into the hard plastic keep cases, so the box doesn't get beat up.
Then you also have the collectors that like having all of their DVD's in keep cases.
I don't mind doing the conversions I enjoy it.

I have a server and might be able to donate space/bandwidth for everyone. I've been lurking for some time and with dvdcomverart.com being down for the time being, I thought I might be able to help out. What I need to know is how many covers (i.e. total space needed) that everyone would want to post. I'm assuming also that typical size is 3mb, let me know if I'm wrong.

Feel free to post responses or to e-mail them directly to me.

I was not knocking a contributing site for covers, nor was I trying to discourage the idea. I love Darth's covers and appreciate the great work he does. I hope he continues to post his covers. I was only mentioning the fact that Matt has so many great covers on his site that maybe we could all try to keep his site up as well as the new ones cropping up.
Eventually, eveyone uses the diffrent sites for covers they need. The more out there the better. I don't think 1 site will be enough for all the covers, eventually we will run out of room there also.

10.8" x 7.25" @ 300dpi will size it right.

Does anyone know where I can get inserts for Warner Brothers releases that dont have inserts, because the info is printed on the inside cover? I am running out of room to store my more than 500 DVD`s so Im starting to keep them in a case logic carry album that allows you to put the insert on one side of the page and the DVD on the other. Each carry case can hold up to 50 DVD`s. This way I can put all the DVD boxes in a big box or boxes in the attic and keep all my DVD`s on one shelf in these cases. The problem being I cant put inserts with the DVD`s because the Warner discs dont have any. Is it possible to find someplace to be able to print out inserts for Warner discs?

How good is WBHV's customer service for replacing damaged cases? Their "security sticker" peeled off some of the black ink from my "V: The Final Battle" DVD case. As you probably know, the black motif is integral to the look of the cover, and little white spots detract from it. I don't want to just run over them with a sharpie, because it would be noticeable, IMO.

Thoughts?

You could put it in a request for the inserts you need and some people on this board may be able to locate/make them for you. Or if you have a scanner, scan them and resize them to 120mm x 180mm.

Thanks. No problem.

Hey marioxb, would the custom Pearl Harbor cover happen to be a 4-disc aplha using the original poster artwork? (the one with the "Faces")

Well, yes and no. It's the cover from the original release non-Vista Series version I downloaded off of dvdcoverart.com a while ago and modified it to reflect the features of the Vista Series one. I don't have any four disc cases, so it's only for a slim double amaray. My idea was to put the two movie discs in one case and the two special discs in another case. Still working on a case for the special discs. It'll probably be the original Vista Series scan modified to list only the special features, not the movie. Is there a way to post pictures (or just a preview of it) on here if I don't have a web site? If there is, I can post a picture of it. Also, I can probably modify it a bit more to fit a four disc case if I knew the dimensions (in pixels).

How good is WBHV's customer service for replacing damaged cases? Their "security sticker" peeled off some of the black ink from my "V: The Final Battle" DVD case. I don't know about getting an actual replacement, but I can send you the scans I downloaded from dvdcoverart.com, one for just The Final Battle, one with both The Final Battle and the original in the same case, if that would help.

Alright, here are some smaller preview images of covers I've done recently. I'll try to find someplace to upload the full-size versions if someone wants any of these. I'll admit they probably aren't as high quality as many of the customs these threads produce, but I'm personally very happy with them, and they certainly look much better than the ugly covers that come on these DVDs to begin with.

The first four were done using the original movie posters (some US and some international), and the JFK cover simply removed the huge "Oliver Stone Collection" border.

I appreciate it, but I want to rule out WBHV wanting to send me a replacement case. Gotta hand it to the Digipack, it's all in one. Keepcases, you can replace the plastic and the art fairly easily. Snappers, I'm now hearing Ivy Hill will send you replacements for damaged hubs (still SOL for replacement art), but Digipacks are whole: Plastic hubs glued to the cardboard art. As far as replacability, this is the worst of all possible worlds!

That said, how do I contact WBHV regarding this issue?

I made one with DVDcoverart.com's Matt "MDX". It's designed for a slim double, with the US poster art (as seen on the inside booklet of the UE) as the cover.

Not sure how to get it to you, as I don't want to e-mail such a large file. Matt, if you're out there, do you have a suggestion?

Back on my meds,

I did the other Legend : UE cover that was at dvdcoverart, slim amaray cover using the same cover as the box but using the picture of "Darkness" in the insert as the basis for the back cover.

I've tried twice to upload it to my 30MB web space but twice it has vanished from the server within seconds of each attempt as my ISP (who supply the space) does not seem to like large files (kinda defeats the purpose of the 30MB space really). Having problems sending emails over 1.5MB now also (same ISP).

Any suggestions?

We never did get a new Hannibal cover did we? I hate the original poster they went with.

Check out the Hannibal special features for ideas. None of those posters exist except somewhere at Universal... so they'd have to just give ideas I'm afraid. A shame... some are really great.

I have few extra "Original" covers plus inserts lying around if anyone needs them. I picked them up when the person just decided to streamline and rid themselves of the boxes and keep the dvd's only.

I will edit the post to list what i have.

Darth, I don't think anyone can say how long the DVDcoverart.com dry spell is going to last, but your site is a welcome addition to the community! Would you like my Legend cover, and my 2001? Can you handle large e-mails, or what is your preferred method of upload?

Back on my meds,

CS

P.S. I too would love to see the Disney R2 Platinum covers.

Hello. I don't have the best printer, and saw that people take them to Kinkos....but there are no Kinkos around here. Would 'Staples' be able to do it?

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate that. I'll also keep your offer of your covers in mind. I'm trying to track my bandwidth usage right now, so I'm limiting the amount of covers I upload to the site...I'm researching what it would take to limit downloads per person per day. If I can find something that will work i can really start taking submissions and I won't have to worry about getting shut down for heavy traffic.
I love your Legend and you 2001 covers and do want to add them to the site. I just have to wait a little while, but if you want to send them to me you can send them via email.
If everything works the way I have planned I'll be taking submissions via anonymous FTP.
Thanks again,
Chris

Also guys, I've been having some problems priting covers. I tape the paper on the end of the sheet, and tell the printer it's legal size, and it still cuts off the same amount. I have three copies of the same DVD cover with the tiny bit missing! I'm going to have to figure out what to do with them!

I print with PSP, and I rotate the image 90 degrees first.

A few months ago I printed off some covers, doing the same thing (at least I think so...) and they all printed off fine.
