I just purchased the wall unit below, and am wondering what to do about running the wires to and from my A/V components. I basically have three components that are going to go on the 3 shelves on the left side. Then, I'll also have 2 bookshelf speakers. Should I just drill three small holes in the bottom center of the back of each of those 3 shelf compartments? Then, what should I do about the bookshelf speaker wire? I'd like the 2 front speakers to be semi-level with the height of the TV. Any bright ideas? I really don't want to ruin this wall unit by drilling a bunch of holes.

I recommend sketches of the layout you plan to use and maybe a few alternatives. Then you can figure out where the holes can be and be hidden by equipment for whatever arrangement of your stuff you use.

Nothing worse than wire holes in shelves you later let your wife use for knick knacks.

I agree, plus once you have that laid out, you'll know exactly how many wires will be in what places, and then you can get the right size hole that will fit the wire with out extra space, so then you won't have as big of whole. It almost looks like the boards in back could be removed, you could pop one off run the wires and then put the board back on. Not sure though based on where you are putting everything if that would be feasible
