I'm been using my Pioneer player for about a year with no problems. Recently, however, I've been having a problem with the video. The picture seems to fade in and out, getting lighter and darker. It goes back and forth between very dark and very light throughout the entire movie. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me as far as what may be causing this or how I can fix it. Thanks.

You're tripping the Macrovision copy protection. Have you changed the way you hooked it up?

Well, since I've moved up to school, I've had to route the DVD player through my VCR because the TV I use doesn't have composite hookups. It did, however, work with a couple of DVDs I've tried before (Blade 2 and Training Day). So I don't know if these disks don't use macrovision or what. Any further assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The only way around it (besides getting a new tv) is to get an rf modulator (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F002%5F012%5F000&product%5Fid=15%2D1244) so you can plug the dvd player directly into your tv. I don't know why those disks didn't trigger the macrovision though .
