XBOX: Best way to link systems via Hub?

I was wondering what the best way is to link systems together or to link the XBOX to the Internet. I was actually looking to buy a hub (or a router) and iw as wondering what to buy? Is there compatibility issues with any brands? Here is what i would like to do:

1.) Connect more than 2 Xbox's together...possibly 4 at the most.

2.) Connect to the Internet to use Xboxconnect or with XBOX Live

Questions:

1.) Is a Hub or Router the way to go?
2.) What brands work?

I would go with a router. I am using the Linksys Wireless 4 port router. It has 4 hard line ports plus it will do wireless connections too. I am not sure if you can hook up a wireless connection to the xbox but ,if so, that would be the best setup.

Ok, i guess i am looking to buy.....my main concern right now is just linking 4 xbox's together for ultimate Halo competition.

Do i go with a Hub, router, or switch? Linksys or D-Link or other? Best deals on any?

thanx

linking 4 Xboxes, just get a hub - they are cheap. Switch is better, but overkill. Router is if you're trying to share an internet connection. Go with some cheap hub if all you're doing is hooking xboxes together.

router if you intend to get all four xboxs on the xbox live network

hub if you just want to link the four xboxs together (no xbox live)

Would a CAT5 RJ45 NETWORK PATCH CABLE work to hook up two XBOXs together?

I'm pretty sure with RJ45 you'll need to go Xbox 1 -> RJ45 -> HUB/Router/Switch -> RJ45 -> Xbox 2 So you'll need a hub/switch/router and another RJ45 cable.

Note: I do not own an Xbox

A straight-through RJ45 cable would not work, but a crossover cable might.

Thanks guys!

Well I just bought a Crossover cable on ebay ($14) I heard it's better to use a Crossover RJ45 if you're just connecting two XBOXs (NO HUB/SWITCH)
