Anyone else say what is all this crap when turn on Cartoon Network?
I personally always thought majority new stuff Cartoon Network makes me very glad I grew up few decades before. I did not think it was much more then difference of taste until yesterday when my sister finally got CN and called me and said, What is all this crap? Having looked at newsgroups today as well, we not only ones.
Animation looks "lazy" and huge backstep compared to shows made even far as 40 years ago. What is goal here, to churn out as many eps as possible and aim them at 5 and under crowd? With few exceptions like Justice League and Masters of Universe special, from what I see it looks like they hired some kid go at it with crayon. Has cost of animation taken some bizzare hike where can not even have same quality put into it that ones decades ago did?
Which I must add is not exclusive just animation quality itself.

As long as the show entertains me I have no problem with the animation.
I think it depends on the show. I don't think shows like Samurai Jack or Dexter's Laboratory would work if the animation were more lifelike.

I'm sorry, you'll have to be more specific. What shows are you talking about? It's hit or miss, same as "Saturday Morning" animation has always been.

I think its more of phenomenon of revering what we saw as a child. I've gone back to watch some of the cartoons that I watched when I was a kid (mid-80's) and the animation isn't really tight, but when you're a kid, that doesn't matter much does it!?

I just got totally hooked on "Courage the Cowardly Dog" the animation and background art is utterly amazing - I so want this on DVD, if CN ever gets around to releasing their shows on video.

I've found alot (not all) of the cartoons on nowadays to be a heck of alot more intelligent than what I had when I was watching Saturday morning cartoons in the early/mid 80s.
Although I use to watch 1-1/2 hours of "Smurfs" back then, I probably couldn't sit through 5 minutes of it nowadays. However, I can sit through the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory (one of my favs), Samurai Jack, etc. Throw in Adult Swim (Sealab is my absolute favorite) and Toonami, and the Cartoon Network has a nice mix of programming that doesn't just appeal to the cradle set.
Of course, I'm an anime fan as well and can still appreciate animation in general as a medium. Perhaps you and your sister just can't stomach animation anymore.

My wife has all the "Powerpuff Girls" DVDs and I would gladly by all of the "Sealab 2021" episodes on disc if they ever came out. I liked the look of the Batman animated show, but never really made a point to watch it.
Nothing else really interests me except for "Space Ghost" which I love watching on the rare occasions when they show new epsiodes.
