I have the:

3. Yamaha HTR-5560

I got it about a month or so ago at Best Buy for like 450 or so. In my short opinion (there are many threads about this receiver from what i've seen)...it's *****ING AMAZING! :) hehe...

Out of that list, I would recommend the Denon 2802. It isn't really a fair comparsion because some of the receivers retail for several hundred less.

But if you can get the Denon 2802 for $500 with a warranty, go ahead.

I think you still can from 6ave (only via phone).

i'd take Kenwood THX series (forgot the serie's number)

it got THX select, DTS-ES. 6X100 watt

the only downside is, it cost little bit less than $600 at BB

If you're talking about the Kenwood 6070, it can barely put out 100 watts with 1 channel driven and it's not nearly the receiver the Denon AVR-2802 is musically, and especially not for home theater applications.

However, the Kenwood VR-5700 and VR-5900 are better than the AVR-2802. The VR5090 might be better, but that's up for debate.

I was actually thinking about upgrading to this Denon reciever. Does it have DD Ex and Dts es ?

also i have a question about placement of a sixth speaker. Right now my seating position is up against the back wall. Should i mount the speaker facing down towards me or face the speaker to the front, towards the tv ?

DPLII, DD (including Matrix 6.1), DTS ES Discrete 6.1, DTS ES Matrix 6.1, DTS Neo:6.

In terms of the 6th speaker, what you're trying to do is create a difuse rear soundstage with it. I'd suggest experimenting both ways and listening for what sounds better to you. I'm guessing bouncing it off the ceiling or pointing it at you will sound best.

I'll go out on a limb and put my .02 in for the Onkyo. I LOVE Mine, and it isn't even 6.1 (sniff).

I would get either the Denon or the Onkyo. The Denon is $525 from 6Ave over the phone and the Onkyo 600 is $419 at onecall.com or jandr.com

The H/K AVR520 is $577.21 with free fedex shipping this week. Definitely one to consider. Back to back, I perfer it to the Denon AVR-3802.

I would look at the Yamaha HTR-5490, it has a bit more power and I've seen it for around $520.

I found the Marantz SR-7200 for <$650 shipped a year ago, so you should be able to find the 6200 for about $500 now.
