First i think you need to decide if you want RPTV or FPTV. FPTV needs a more controled lighting environment but can give you a much larger screen size. RPTV can be less expensive for better quality since a good FPTV can be very expensive. If you go RPTV I suggest a Mitsubishi since they're very tweakable and look great when properly set up. Either way you need to really invest some time into learning about the pros and cons of each plus factor in the whole DVI/Firewire copyright mess. Whatever you do stay away from a RPTV demo or floor model.
