Problems with Ar Digtial Headphones

Hello all. This is my first post. I have AR digital headphones (aw791). Everytime I listen to the LOTR action sequences, the headphones sound cut out. The sound cuts back in after the action settles down. I have tried using Digital Coax instead of TOSLINK(no luck). I switched out the headphones at Best Buy(no luck). I think it's either the DVD player (Toshiba 2200) or the disc itself. The problem does not occur when using my home theater and the same LOTR DVD. The headphones only do this with the LOTR DVD. Other DVD's sound fine. I'm out of Ideas. Anybody else have this problem? Any help is appreciatedI feel like I'm taking crazy pills - Mugato

Well if you exchanged the headphones, and you tried the LOTR DVD on a HT with the same DVD player then it could just be a compatability problem with the LOTR DVD. I'm not 100% and I'm sure someone else can give you more advice.

I have the AW770, and though I don't have the LOTR DVD, I have not noticed the same exact problems on other DVD's.

Generally, though these wireless speakers do not seem to handle "big" home theater type sound very well. I tend to get a lot of distortion when I try to crank up the volume. Perhaps the headphones are filtering out the action sequences as "noise". Try turning down the volume and see if you also get the same effect. Also, make sure that the sender is away from as much electrical equipment as possible to reduce any electro/magnetic interference. Finally, you might try to offset the frequency a bit so that the sound level drops down, and cranking up the volume. I have sometimes had to do that when the stereo signal drops out (That's the closest that I have come to experiencing your problem).

I've tried turning down the volume as low as it will go but no luck. I have to be honest, since I've bought these headphones, I've only listened to a few DVD's. Star Wars, LOTR and a few concerts. The LOTR DVD cuts out at the exact same parts in the movie. I'll go home tonight and see if moving the base away from my set-up will help. I think it is a compatability problem. In the manuel it says that the headphones don't handle a 96k bitrate. I have know idea what that means, though.
