Toshiba = coneheads
I just inherited an 11 year old 32" Toshiba CX3286A from my parents. The picture is great and it looks absolutely huge compared to the 27" Sharp I had before. However, I think something is wrong with the vertical image on the screen.
The bottom half seems to look fine but the picture becomes more and more stretched as it goes to the top (giving people a conehead and stretched appearance). This also cuts off the tops of most sports score boxes (bad news for the Super Bowl)
Is this normal with Toshiba (I heard it was common)? And has anyone had any experience with this? If so, how much was it to get fixed? After all the sweating my buddy and I did to get it up to my 3rd floor apartment, I'd hate to give up on it.

NO...this is not normal for Toshibas! It sounds like the vertical adjustment is "misadjusted" on the set. Usually this can be repaired through a service menu or even a manual control on the back of the set or inside the set.
I'd contact Toshiba and see if you can adjust the settings. If not...it might be worth it to have a service center adjust this for you.
