I do just because of the horrible taboo of Fullscreen dvds, plus to me it doesn't matter watching it with black bars on top and bottom, not to mention that the resale value is much higher with widscreen.

Of course I do. I don't watch my TV screen, I watch the movie. Seeing the movie the way it was made is the most important part of home theater to me. Everything else is just television.
Besides, one day I'll have a widescreen TV. When I do I won't have to rebuy all my DVDs.

I buy WS as well.. Kinda irked that my 4:3 HDTV doesn't do the anamorphic squeeze, but the model that came out just 2 months after I got mine does. The downconversion is ok, but not great. Such is life

In the knees at that.
I gave absolutely no thought to the shape of my TV when I discovered widescreen DVDs. I learned about OAR and that was that.
Also wanted to say, my main tv is 25", mono and only has RF inputs. I've got my Sony DAV S-300 hooked up for DD and DTS surround sound though. My LD player is also hooked up to this tv.
In the bedroom we have a 20" Wega that we run the PS2 thru for DVDs, and before my brother in law moved in, I had a den with a 13" tv that I would watch DVDs on. I watched Magnolia on that little screen, now that's hardcore.

I embraced widescreen years ago, long before I had ever heard of a widecreen TV. It's just sickening to realize how much of the frame is considered "disposable".

Absolutely. I've come to get a real "kick" whenever I see those black bars at the top and bottom of the screen...I'll even sometimes see them on TV (e.g. Turner Movie Classics).

There is no other way to watch a movie other than OAR. After a while, seeing the bars tells the brain "you're watching a MOVIE"...full screen says "TV SHOW".....to me at least
