Need help in finding the DVD player for me
Hi,
I have had a DVD player for some time and I am ready to buy a new one. Trouble is I am looking for some very specific features and I have not been able to find one player that suits my needs, at least from the info given on the web pages. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here are the features I would like:
1.Multi-disc player, holds at least 5 discs.
2.CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 compatible
3.Ability to shuffle (in any of the above audio formats) tracks on both a single disc AND all discs. This is what has been hard to find. Many players let you shuffle tracks on all discs, many let you shuffle tracks on a single disc, but I have not been able to find both. AND, the player must have the ability to play MP3 CD's that are divided into folders. I don't think this is a problem, but if you know anything about MP3 discs, you know you can put things in separate folders. For example, I will put all of the CD's of a single band on one disc, with each CD having it's own folder. The player should be able to access each folder. Again, this is probably not a problem on any player, but it is very important to me.
For example (and I apologize for this becoming a book), I saw the Sony DVP-NC655P/S at Best Buy today. It appears that it's shuffle mode will only shuffle ALL the discs. When I had a single MP3 disc in the player, it would NOT play the tracks of that one disc in random order. It played them in sequential order. I need it to be able to shuffle tracks on multiple discs or single discs. Hope I am getting my point across here... :-( What I am looking for is a DVD player that could be a full featured stand-alone CD/MP3 player as well.
4.Progressive scan
5.Dolby Digital and DTS compatible.
6.Remote control and all other features that are considered "standard" on today's DVD players.
If anyone has any knowledge of a name brand player with all of these features, I'd love to hear about it. I have looked all over the web and the info given on audi playback is usually very sparse. For example, the JVC XV-FA90/95 and the Panasonic DVD-CP72 are multi-disc progressive scan players with MP3 capability, but I don't know how their shuffle/random system works. Sorry to sound so incredibly anal, but I want to get everything I want if I am going to get a new player.
Thanks much for any info!!! E-mails welcome, too.

I have the JVC XV-FA90BK.
Great DVD player for the price, only it lacks some of the features you require.
Specifically, it won't shuffle between discs. It will play MP3's in folders, and all other features I think exist that you require. Except, that the remote really sucks.
Overall, I am very happy with the player.
