So there are several sites that sell replacement alpha and amaray cases. I want to know where I can get replacement snappers. Many ask "Why on Earth would you want to?" My reason is that I have broken spindles in some snapper cases and I dont feel like going through the effort of replacing my snappers with keep cases at this point in time (I am an all or nothing type person, and I dont have the money to print up 50+ high quality covers as well as pay for that many keep cases). Anyone know where I can get these? Thanks.....

inetdvd.com doesn't sell replacement snappers, only keep cases. There is an address posted in this thread where you can return your broken snapper and get it replaced:
If you do, I'd be interested in hearing how long it takes to get replaced.

I know I already asked this in the previous thread, but in case it was overlooked, would it be possible for someone to put together a cover for My Bloody Valentine using the original poster art? I suppose this has probably been discussed earlier, but these threads are so huge I figured I'd just ask again:
What do you folks normally do for putting snapper-scans into a keepcase? Do you just simply re-size the snapper-scan to the proper keepcase-insert size and print them up, or do you leave the image size essentially the same, and just chop off the ends to fit in the keepcase?
Thanks!

I dont' just resize, I reposition elements so they are positioned better. SImply resizing a snapper scan to the keepcase dimensions doesn't look right in my opinion...because the ratio is different.

Out of curiosity, what kind of paper do you guys use for printing these covers? I've tried both coated and glossy sheets, with mixed results for both.
The coated paper gets wrinkled because of the heavy ink saturation, and the colors and clarity are nowhere near as good as the glossy. On the other hand, while the glossy gives extrememly nice quality, any area that has very dark colors on it (black and some browns and blues) never seems to dry all the way and remains 'tacky'. This is a problem since the plastic on the DVD case sticks to these spots. :\

The first question that I have to ask is what brand of printer are you using? I have a _Lexmark_Z45_ and do not have the troubles that you posted about using the cheap store brand photo paper from _OfficeMax_ and/or _Office_Depot. And I cheat since I don't want to have to purchase legal sized paper, I tape a second plain sheet to the end of the photo paper and the full cover gets printed on the standard sized sheet.

I've just started printing out covers on my Hewlett Packard Deskjet 812c (Canadian version of the 810c). I picked up a package of 200 sheets of HP Premium Inkjet paper. As others have mentioned in this and other posts, I simply tape an extra strip of paper onto one end to make the whole thing 14" long, and choose "Legal Size" paper in my photo program.
I haven't had any problems with the ink causing the paper to wrinkle too badly. It wrinkles a *tiny* bit, perhaps, but once it's in the keepcase, it's not at all noticable.
Moreover, I'm certainly pleased with how the covers look. They are practically indistinguishable from "regular" keepcase inserts.

I for one am really impressed with the quility of Canon s900 Phot printer. This printer is the best printer I've ever owned. Its a bit expensive $350 but I got it for $298 at buy.com with $15 off coupon. No need for attaching extra sheet as the printer prints a full cover on 8.5 x 11 sheet. PERFECT. Color saturation is perfect.
I use HP premium plus glossy Paper. I bought 200 for $35 from ebay seller with excellent feedback and super quick shipping. Ebay ID is "cordless4less". And no its not me. What does everone use to cut the cover Paper cutter, razor. I use a metal ruler with a razor on top of a USPS priorty mail folded box.
And thanks I was able to order the double slim Amaray cases from http://www.usplastic.com . 84 cents is a reasonable rate.

I have one of those radial (think pizza cutter attached to a guide arm) paper cutters. It didn't cost too much and works great.

All I can say about paper cutting is... most office supply store paper cutters just don't cut a straight enough line for a case cover!! Un-less you come along and add a color bleed/frame that you can cut off.
Your better off using an Xoknife and metal ruler!!

Exactly that’s how I learned. My paper cutter which cost $40 just could not cut a perfect enough line. It kept leaving some white. Then when I tired to fix it with scissors it made it worse. The metal ruler and razor are perfect. I transformed my entire snapper collection yesterday --- absolutely PERFECT thanks everyone.

Yes, I plan to do covers of My Bloody Valentine and April Fool's Day. I'll need to wait for my Amazon order to arrive, which should be at least September 10th to Canada.
Sadly, I'll need to update the Friday the 13th 7 & 8 covers with the changed audio specs and lack of trailers on the packaging. I may upgrade the screenshots to DVD quality, since the existing ones are taken from the grainy VHS tapes.
I do not have Graveyard Shift or Silver Bullet on DVDs, so I can't help you there.
My future plans are: matching Poltergeist I, II and III covers, a Child's Play #1 cover that matches the others and Phantasm I-IV covers that align. Yes, I know what you mean the front graphic is shifted to the right to make for the snap. I had to reposition the front graphic on Superman and the Clint Eastwood Collections. Most people don't and when they print it and put it in the sleeve the cover looks off-center.
It's tricky to do it right but it makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Actually for the poltergeists I would do one sleeve for a triple DVD case.
I didn't realize you did the Friday covers. Bravo they are good. I was going to do them after I did my first run at Halloween, but after seeing yours I knew I couldn't top them.
My god that DVD cover for Bloody Valentine does blow. Why do companys insist on changing the cover art far from the original poster? Very few are actual improvements. The FOG Se was good and better than the poster but they blew by tinting it green. That's why I "fixed" it.

That new blue cover for The Fog is a huge improvement! Nice work darthvong...I still prefer the original poster art (nostalgia), but this cover will do just fine until someone can (hopefully) do a cover using the original...
Keep up the good work.

Poltergeist II - nice region 2 & 4 DVD available
Poltergeist III - VCD only unfortunately, but those discs can be easily placed into a matching slim dual-alpha case
Phantasm I-III - a UK region 2 box set exists

Region 2 gets all the breaks! Isn't that real nice 2-disc Predator DVD region 2 also? Not to mention the cool 2-disc set of Dawn of the Dead. Hmmm, maybe I should invest in a code-free DVD player.

I would like to get a replacement outer case for the Sopranos season 3. Does anybody have the number for HBO home video?
My box came from Sam Goody.com with the bottom corners squished a bit. It is not a big deal and certainly not worth returning the set for another one. The discs are completely clean with no annoying scratches or thumb prints that I sometimes see when I get brand new discs. My luck would be that I would return the set and get back a pristine outer box but the discs would have problems. The discs are more important.

Hi,
I designed some x-files covers - now set up to be in multiple 2x cases. When the boxes are placed next to each other the spine makes the x-files image, not a good explaination - take a look.
Full Size Covers can be gotten at <a href="http://www.mattbrown.com/covers/">www.mattbrown.com/covers</a>
Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments.

I think DV-DEPOT.com (Something like that), sells them..
Or you can print your own out (Check dvdcoverart.com)..
Ive printed out a couple, to replace some of my other covers..
an Idle hands (Original movie poster) one, as well as Oceans Eleven (Original movie poster) one.. that I just plain didnt like the R1 covers for..
Oceans Eleven actually had a sweet French Cover out for it..

I have printed about 40+ covers from DVDcoverart.com and made some of my own. They come out super sweet on a color laser printer. Some of them you cant even tell they are not the original.

Also I think all of my Halloween revised customs are available at DV-Depot now. They did say they wont post the Halloween Resurrection custom until the DVD comes out.

I would as well. I hope the site will be up soon. He's going to have to do something I would think. The site is getting alot of word of mouth. The bandwidth issue is only going to get worse.
Limit the amount of downloads per day or something so that the site doesnt get taken off everytime his allowed bandwidth is reached.
Well if he sets something up for donations I 'll contribute.

I know what you mean the front graphic is shifted to the right to make for the snap. I had to reposition the front graphic on Superman and the Clint Eastwood Collections. Most people don't and when they print it and put it in the sleeve the cover looks off-center. It's tricky to do it right but it makes a huge difference in my opinion
The biggest problem I run into with snapper scans is resizing the spine to fit the spine size of the particular keepcase. If the spine has a solid color background it is not a problem to reposition the title & any other items on the spine. But , I tend to run into problems with spines that don't have a solid color background. I use PSP 7 & what I have been doing with the non-solid color background is to simply resize the spine after selecting it out & pasting it into the template. This practice unfortunately leads to some distortions at times. If I try to select out the various elements & then paste them back into a resized spine then the background of the selected out element & the spine don't usually match. Is there a better way to get the spines of snappers that don't have a solid color background resized without distortion of some sort, especially if the size of the keepcase is two DVDs or larger? Did I make any sense with this explanation & question? Any help or suggestions are very welcomed.

It depends on the spine. I usually make the canvas size the dimensions of the keepcase spine and use the rubber stamp / clone tool (I'm not sure what it is called in PSP) to extend the patern to the edges. It gets tricky for me when there is picture on the spine (I'm not talking about the little square picture of the actor) or a complex pattern.

It is the clone tool in PSP. I'll give that I try & see if I'm satisfied with the results. Any other suggestions are still welcomed.

I'm just scanning my old covers from my VHS collection.
For a few dollars, you can buy an old VHS tape off ebay, scan the cover, and resell it. I've done that a couple of times just to get the desired artwork. But just make sure the cover you're buying has as few scuffs and scratches as possible.

C.H.U.D., what program are you printing it with?
I could tell you how to print it with Paint Shop Pro. As long as the covers are 3240 x 2175 pixels and 300dpi, you should be able to print at 100% on legal-sized paper landscape mode. Do a print preview to see how it will come out. And don't bother with glossy paper, because the clear plastic of the keepcase will make it look shiney anyways. I use Ultra or Super Bright White 8.5" x 14" legal paper and the colours come out strongly if I set my Ink Jet printer to Photo Quality Ink Jet. Those without legal sized paper can tape a thin strip of paper onto a letter-sized sheet to extend the reach of the printer.

Just in case anyone is interested I just discovered that the 8 movies in the 'Stanley Kubrick' 9 disc boxed set fit the master box perfectly when scanned to keepcases. I knew those white Amaray cases would come in handy one day.<center><img src=http://home.earthlink.net/~jkelley11/johnf14/kubrickset.jpg><center> Originally there was a documentary (the ninth disc in the set) but the box didn't match anyway. I even got rid of that annoying Columbia TriStar logo on the Dr. Strangelove case.

I have the proper paper, the same as I used before, so that is no problem.
I am using Paint Shop Pro, so I just need to know the measurements needed to resize it so it prints at the proper size. I can't remember the numbers, something like 7 1/2 by 5 or so.

Covers should be 10.8" x 7.25" and 300dpi (3240 x 2175).
Under the Image menu is a Resize command where you should make adjustments to the actual print size.

Matt just replied back to my email. He's having problems with his web-host and is moving the site to a new one as soon as he finds one that meets his needs. He said Definetly the site will return it just may take awhile.
He also said he's going to implement a limit to the amount of downloads so the site doesn't use up all the bandwidth quickly.
So basically we just have to be patient.
