Target VG sales (AllStar Baseball 2003 GC $9.99)
The target I work at we had a sign that started
tomarrow (sunday) for a pricecut on All-Star Baseball 2003
for the Gamecube at $9.99. The game was 49.99
maybe this is a mistake and they ment ASB2002
but the sign clearly says 2003. Check it out
sunday because its a pricecut and technically
they are only suposed to give rainchecks for
"sale" items that are in the add.
We also had many other price cuts for video games
maybe about 10-15. and other I noticed was
Matt Hoffman pro bmx2 the new one for Gamecube
was only either 24.99 or 19.99 i cant remember which.
The GBA matt hoffman bmx2 was only 14.99.
Is the price this low everywhere?
And we did not have a sign for this but my coworker
said that Tony Hawk 3 for all systems was being
lowered to 19.99 on monday. Will be good for PS2
to check out the modem/network card when that comes
out the end of the month. You can play upto 4 players online.
And yah there are a few x-box and ps2 clearence games left
forgot to write down which.

it's true. I went and bought 3 copies today. mwahahaha. the guy at the register said they've sold games even cheaper than that. he mentioned a gamecube rpg that sold for 5 dollars the week before. I assume he meant Lost Kingdoms or whatever that one RPG is. he also said that they'll be having even more price cuts just like this one because they're trying to get rid of the games so they'll have more shelf space for newer ones.
Worth noting, they had Wave Race for 29.99. A few other games were marked down in the 30 dollar range for all 3 systems. Aggressive Inline on PS2 was 25.
I think I love Target now.

Went to one of the two semi local Target stores and they didn't have ASB 2003. There was a tag for it though. However, Bomberman Generations had a 9.99 tag on it and I was pumped, until I realized the tag said All Star Baseball 2003 so no go on Bomberman either(there was another tag labelled for Bomberman at 49.99) I didn't feel like driving another 30 minutes to go check the other target so no dice.
They had Waverace but I remembered no really liking that game so I didn't think it was worth 30 bucks.

$9.99 seems awfully low, but being on clearance is not a surprise. The football season's upon us, and ASB on Gamecube didn't sell. Here's its sales (for June, followed by total):
[All figures are Gamecube only]
ALL STAR BASEBALL2003 FEB'02 ACCLAIM ENTERTAINMENT 8,753 43,103
In fact, most sports (except Madden) seem to suffer. I guess the 'Nintendo and sports' thing isn't an urban legend...
* NFL QTRBACK CLUB 2002 DEC'01 ACCLAIM ENTERTAINMENT 1,774 17,955
* ESPN WINTR SPORTS 2K2 JAN'02 KONAMI OF AMERICA 1,808 14,466
* SOCCER SLAM MAR'02 SEGA OF AMERICA 5,209 29,674
* NHL HITZ 2002 NOV'01 MIDWAY 5,469 108,182
* ALL STAR BASEBALL 2K2 NOV'01 ACCLAIM ENTERTAINMENT 6,154 96,505
* HOME RUN KING MAR'02 SEGA OF AMERICA 7,934 22,011
* NBA COURTSIDE 2002 JAN'02 NINTENDO OF AMERICA 8,381 104,338
* 2002 FIFA WORLD CUP APR'02 ELECTRONIC ARTS 9,486 14,770
* NBA STREET FEB'02 ELECTRONIC ARTS 9,916 70,813
* MADDEN NFL 2002 NOV'01 ELECTRONIC ARTS 11,261 286,649
* NBA 2K2 MAR'02 SEGA OF AMERICA 12,084 38,741
* FIFA SOCCER 2002 NOV'01 ELECTRONIC ARTS 14,592 98,952
Some of these seem shockingly low to me for a userbase of 2 million; sports games are nearly 25% of the entire US market. Just for comparison, here's a non-sports stunner... 116 thousand copies of this sold?!?

As a video game power seller on EBay I'll tell you that the crappy Simpson's "Crazy Taxi" ripoff sells like HOTCAKES. I am not at all suprised by that number.

My local Target had one copy left. The sign said $19.99, but it rang up at $9.99. They lady was shocked. If you see it at Target and the price is higher make them check it and it may really be $9.99.
What is really strange is the PS2 and Xbox versions were only lowered to $24.99. Glad I have a Game Cube.
A lot of games were marked down. I saw:
Legends of Wrestling (all systems) $24.99
Max Payne (Xbox only) $37.99
Pikmin $39.99
Wave Race $29.99 (hardly a sale its that price everywhere)
McGraith Supercross (Gamecube) $19.99
Dave Mirra 2 (Gamecube) $14.99
18 Wheeler (Gamecube) $19.99
NBA Courtside (Gamecube) $29.99
BTW, I'm shocked a great game like Soccer Slam didn't sell better. No wonder Sega put off the Game Cube versions of NFL and NCAA 2K3 till last.

Just came back from the local Target picked up the two in the case, had to argue with the clerk to get him to scan it. The tag in the case said $39.99 this Target's markdown crew sux!

Updated my game list after checking two other Targets. Picked up Dave Mirra 2 for Gamecube for $14.99. I had the Xbox version but used it as a trade in awhile back. Felt like playing it again and $14.99 isn't too bad.
The prices were real inconsistent. I saw Smackdown for $29.99 and Agressive Inline for $24.99 at one Target, but not at others. Same with Courtside. $29.99 at one Target, but $39.99 at two others. Overall it seems like the Target stores put up new prices at some stores, but miss them at others.

Here in Jersey the tag said $49.99, but it scanned for $9.99
The guy let me buy it but he pulled the rest off the shelf to investigate further.
Thanks for pointing out this great deal!

Picked up the last copy. Also got Sega Tennis 2k2 on DC for 1.84!!! There was no price and since all DC titles have been discontinued, it wasn't in the registers. The manager finally came over and found the code in his scanner. Rang up as $1.84. SWEET!

For anyone thats gotten All Star Baseball 2003. How the hell do you actually hit the ball? I can't even start my swing before the ball is the catchers mit.
I like the game overall, but I can't get the timing down for the hitting. With World Series Baseball you get enough time to actually plan your swing. With this game it looks like you have to pick your spot and start your swing before the pitch is even released.

But once the ball is batted, ASB handles almost all the rest of the action better than WSB.

That is the game's biggest flaw. You pretty much have to guess a spot and hope it's delivered there. The pitch speed, combined with the very sluggish cursor, is a killer.
