I would say that Dan has a point. For those that hate the idea of sending me a list for every round and would rather do it one by one, I propose a compromise. I can email out results of each pick to those that want it, and give those that want that 1 hour to respond with their pick. This should satisfy everyone. Those that want one email per round will be satisfied (I think), and those that want to see what is going on as it is going on should be satisfied.
Any thoughts?

As for criptik28's question, I believe the way it works is if you have sent Dave your ranked list, he'll make your pick and post it, giving those who can pick in an hour the opportunity to make their pick as we go. You might want to still make sure you send him a ranked list too, because if you don't pick in an hour, you get the next Yahoo ranked guy, right?

I think that we should go back to just the email list idea, with no 1-hour window for those who want to pick. If we did the draft lists, you would send it off and your pick is made for the day, along with everyone elses. That way, everyone knows the exact speed/pace of the draft. At the rate we're going, we'll be in the 6th week of the season before we're done... :D

I agree, but we should wait until round one is complete.
As for the 1 hour no one has stuck to that yet, so in all fairness let's not start now.
If we are going to do the 1 hour we need to have a start and stop time for the draft for that particular day, and everyone needs to be notified.

i still say we stick with the way it is for at least another day or two. it seems to be moving along ok now but we'll get a better idea at the end of the day. its hard to have people making their picks over the weekend and with that little delay this morning, but it might turn out ok this way.

people have been posting here as well as emailing their picks to everyone. its probably nice to send out an email after you make a pick with whos up next just in case people arent checking here.
a lot of people are sending in lists to pick from should they be away. i am pretty much available to check email and here all the time so i dont plan on sending in a list. 1st round however when it was the pick before mine we were waiting on i emailed dave a list of 2 guys to pick from should the guy before me take one. i dont like having to mail in a whole list of picks so i wont be doing that

Ah, gotcha...thanks for the explanation! That's kinda what I figured was going on...but since I'll be checking my email every couple seconds or so now ( :) ), I don't think it'll be a problem. Besides, we still have quite a few picks left until my turn comes up...

I agree. But if people are diligent about checking their email or the DVDTalk thread, we can get through at least 4-5 picks per hour. That's around 3-4 hours per round, which isn't too shabby.

If we're going to do this hybrid sort of draft, we need to have a schedule for those of us who can't sit and hit refresh every few minutes. In other words, I need to know a deadline for each round, given that the round moves in fits and starts...

You will not see the picks of people ahead of you with their lists, I will simply go to the lists, and put down everyone based on their list position. Make sense?
Also, so that we don't have to potentially wait until 5 to do both rounds tomorrow, we will hve to have round 4 picked or a list to me by 12 noon PST. Then we will go to round 5 unless we have already done so. This way you will never have to give me a list bigger than one round.

TaTTooD - One person can potentially hold us up, which is why we will make the cut off time noon tomorrow for one round and 5 for the next. That way we aren't held up for both rounds.
If I have to go to the lists, I will not do so until the deadline, but at that time I will go to all the lists, so that I won't just fill in whoever wasn't available, I will fill in the entire round.
So EVERYONE needs to get me a list if this goes to the deadline. I really REALLY hate the idea of giving people the default dudes. You might end up with Terrell Davis -eek-

TaTTooD - One person can potentially hold us up, which is why we will make the cut off time noon tomorrow for one round and 5 for the next. That way we aren't held up for both rounds.
If I have to go to the lists, I will not do so until the deadline, but at that time I will go to all the lists, so that I won't just fill in whoever wasn't available, I will fill in the entire round.
So EVERYONE needs to get me a list if this goes to the deadline. I really REALLY hate the idea of giving people the default dudes. You might end up with Terrell Davis -eek-
well if it ends up having to go to the lists can you still page me like i mentioned earlier? i am available 24/7 and want to know whos available and whos taken when i pick. i have no interest in using the lists for my own picks since i'm always available

I wish we would do lists for everyone and every round left or go by the hour rule for everyone. Or better yet a half hour rule. I think it would make it more even imho.

that rule is good too. maybe start that tomorrow where people have 30 minutes to an hour to get their pick in otherwise you go off their list for that round

what about the 1 hour rule. in this instance if you have a list from lh use it after the hour is up, so the next guy can pick?
if not i will have to send you a list with 18 players for round 3.

Really what I think could work the best would be if we want to do 1 round a day in an 8 hour day give everyone 30 mins. for example if you pick first you go at 8:00 2nd you go at 8:30 and so on and lets say the third guy doesn't draft in time krdave picks for him and we keep going. And if we want to do 2 rounds a day we would have to do 15 min. spaces in between picks. Then if you know you can't make your picks just give a list before the day starts and then everyone else can pick when its there time, And we wouldn't have to start and stop.

thats a great idea...you could send out the schedule via email and post it here and everyone has a set time for their pick to make it by...if it goes early thats cool but everyone has until their scheduled time to get their pick in otherwise you resort to the list

The problem with what is being suggested is that there are some people who mentioned from the begining that they wouldn't be available sull time, and everyone else going full time would give them an unfair advantage. The way we are going currently may suck a little ass but it is completely fair/unfair for everyone involved, so I am reluctant to do it differently.
Tomorrow, if someone knows they won't be around, they can get me a list and we shouldn't run into this type of roadblock again.

thats a good point but the way we are going now is not fair for everyone imo. Where the way we are going now some people will get lucky and get to make their own pick and other people who are behind people who are not online will get the screws. Im not saying one way is the best or another. I just think the idea I gave would give more people an oppertunity to be able to pick and we wouldn't have to check if its our turn every other min. because we would all have a set time to go. And the same people would still give their own lists. If this makes any sense

The picks will be updated about every 10 minutes or faster, but if we have a road block, only a few people will be affected by it rather than everyone. So, yes.

the way this league is set up with 2 or 3 RB's or 3 or 4 WR's and a QB...i think you'll be fine with a decent or kinda crummy QB....ya figure there's 16 teams......32 QB's...you'll end up with a decent QB more than likely who can play all your games but the bye week...you should be fine :)

The problem with my proposal regarding dropping a Yahoo default list player back into the pool is that it would have to be done by a certain time so that kvrdave could update the draft list on the website in time for the AM drafters to make their picks with full knowledge of whom is available. ie if tomorrow morning, or tonight, even, the 16th pick team (who is now picking in spot 1 for round 4) makes a pick, he has to know who is available. It may not work unless we restrict the time that the 4th round begins until the AM and dave agrees to check email and update the site at some given time in the PM. Capice?

Hey this happened to me, but I actually got my list to Dave before he made the autopicks. If this is the case I would like to dump Jerry Rice (who I would never pick at this round) and instead pick Kordell Stewart (who would have been highest available on my list).
