I couldn't tell much from those screenshots. The only one that I could even make out looked like the Resident Evil people, Link, and some dolls?

Any truth to the rumor that this game is exactly the same as the GBA version, just with better graphics (aka Zoocube)?

What really excites me about this game is it looks like it has real-time battles. No more typical crappy turn-based RPG fighting!

WTF?? That movie (and the screens, which look like they came from the movie) just look like various highlights of other Gamecube games (Starfox, Zelda, Resident Evil, etc.). This "news story" is complete crap.

The screens did come from the movie, and the movie does highlight those games, as well as FF. I don't get why that makes the story crap.

Yes...I saw that mini-game in another movie. Each page of the book has a hole cut in it and you have to move your character to the right place or you'll get squashed.

The screens come from a new Japanese Gamecube commercial which shows footage from several different games including Final Fantasy. IGN has the commercial up, but it's insiders only:

I cannot believe this thread has went basically ignored... Am I dreaming, or is this huge news? I'm talking system selling and leading to really big future games by once thought forbidden developers huge. If this game is truly exclusive to GC and GBA, I cannot see it doing anything but wonders for Nintendo. No wonder the big N never showed signs of sweat during questions of their consoles performance thus far.

This game looks pretty cool ...a lot better than I thought it would be considering we just heard about it recently. Looks like FF9 SD-style graphics but in 3D like FFX . The new reports are saying it will be action based like like Brave Fencer Musashi (good underated game!) We have two GBA's and I can't wait!

When we get more than 3 seconds of grainy gameplay footage we can argue about how many systems it's going to sell. There's currently very little to discuss since next to nothing is known about the game.

This is Final Fantasy. I just can't see when that stopped meaning something. I'm not sure that this board is really a microcosm of the consumers of this game, because I know this will generate quite a bit of interest if, like I said, if it is truly a GC exclusive, as well as a real Final Fantasy game, and not some crappy stuff like Chocobo Racing.

There's no hype yet, because there's no info on the game. We don't know what it will be like, it it will be GC exclusive for sure, and whether or not it will be a "real" Final Fantasy game, or some kind of crappy spinoff.

If it is a real FF game, and is GC exclusive, it will sell systems as the FF series is hugely popular, especially among casual gamers. It's basically a brand name.

Yeah.. I hate having to actually have skill in games, instead of just selecting things from a menu.. just awful.

There is a certain amount of strategy involved in good turn-based battle systems. Not much, but a little. There is no strategy involved in real-time battles. To me, reflexes != skill
